Yeah. The title says it all.
While buying and looking for wheelsets, I have notice the different spoke count in different wheel build, just wondering whats the advantages, or disadvantages to this.
And whats better?
What do you prefer.
How do you like it. (e.g.) 48 rear 32 front.

48 means more spokes, more spokes the stronger as more spokes take the strain. although with more spokes come greater weight obviously.

48 hole is piontless, the advantages of a 36 hole are way better than the advantages of a 48. they basically do the same thing sept one is lighter. so unless your super duper sketchy and like case every jump and land sideways alot a 48 is pointless. and you cant get 38 hole rims, the standards are 36 and 48 and there are a couple of companys that make a 32.

Keep your wheels true and tensioned, you will get away with 36hole rims.
I only know one person that runs 48hole rims. He is a monster and really hammers his bike.

It would depend on how hard you ride your bike, I have 36 holes on front and rear, But if you need to look after them and true em every month or so.

haha like everyone in perth runs 48h rear? and whoever said the difference betweet 32 and 36 is alot greater than the difference between 36h and 48h, ur dumb as f*ck. there 4 spokes differnce from 32 and 36 and there 12 spkoes more from the 36h and 48h wtf ?

i regret getting a 48h badly,

another question, is it possible to lace a 48hole rim+hub with 36 spokes and keep the same streangth as a normal 36h wheel?

umm.. you can take out every 4th spoke i guess if you wanted. dont think that would work

Most people run 36 or 48 as outlined before. I'd take a guess that 99% of people will be able to run a well maintained set of 36's laced at 3cross. 48's are for the maintenance-phobics, and heavier riders, or the real street demons. They take a LOT more strain for an extra 12 spokes, check the gsport website for an article on it i think.. As for 32, it is usually run up front by racers or smooth weight conscious trails riders, as they both have a lot smoother transitions, with a 36 in the back.

theres a lot of speculation about what cross to lace your wheels, 3x36 and 4x48 are the most common, but the more crosses the stronger, but less crosses teh stiffer. a few people swear by running 4x36 as it is a lot stronger. FYI i run 3x36, street park and occasionally trails with good spokes and nipples and am yet to have any major problems. tension now and again, but really not that often. Most people would agree with that, i think.

48 hole gives 47% more strength and 13% more weight, i run 48spoke and my bike weighs only 10.6 kilo's so weight isnt actually a issue at all...
