Does anybody have a clue when the BMX will be on in the busy Olympic schedule?? I know that athletes such as Jared Graves and Luke Madil are repping Aus, is Buchanan??
Oh. Also one other thing, why BMX? Will there be other extreme sports to come??
Anyway, your thoughts on Olympic BMX.

Cheers,
Ty. ;)

here is all the info on all the riding in the games:

BMX
Men - Jared Graves (Go Gravey!), Kamakazi, Luke Madill
Women - Tanya Balley, Nichole Callisto

X-Country
Men - Daniel McConnell
Women - Dellys Star

Road
Men - Cadel Evans, Simon Gerrans, Matt Lloyd, Stuart O'Grady, Michael Rogers
Women - Kate Bates, Sara Carrigan, Oenone Wood

Track
Men - Ryan Bailey, Jack Bobridge, Greame Brown, Dan Ellis, Mark French, Mark Jamieson, Shane Kelly, Brett Lancaster, Brad McGee, Cameron Meyer, Luke Roberts
Women - Kate Mactier, Anna Meares

So thats everyone competing and the dates are:
BMX:
20th - Competition
21st - Finals

X-Country:
22nd - Finals
23rd - Finals

Road:
9th - Finals
10th - Finals
13th - Finals

Track:
15th - 19th

And i think that BMX is a great inclusion to the games, but i'm not sure whether it will open up the door for other 'extreme sports' as the sport has to be generally partaken in by most of the worlds general countries, but i think the more popular things could always be introduced in teh future such as DH or proper luge, most things with a renowed world cup i would think have a foot in the door so to speak.

C'mon Aussies, You can do it!

I think yo are mistaken.
I STARTED GRAVY!!!!!!!!! LOL :D

I'm watching Channel 7 right now and it just said BMX on the 20th, which has already been answered!

The track looks VERY long, huge as roll in though.

I think Gravy has it in the mens!
Kitner in the womens.

I was acctually talking about the post itself haha, patto stole it from my mis-post in another thread i read wrong :p

Yeah the track looks nice, that massive berm up the end looks sweet (if i saw right, dam pics were small). I think i read somewhere the track is 400m long, i have no idea about BMX track lengths but that seems quite decent.

*EDIT* straight from olympic site "The Olympic BMX track, which is approximately 300 to 400 meters in length, features high technical jumps and other obstacles designed for the top-level riders of the BMX racing."

Some pics for those who have not seen:

if anyone is going to watch the opening ceremony tonight Graves, Madill, Kamakazi, Balley and Callisto are going to be at the back of the Australian Group because they are the virgins of the group.

Multiple Lines!!! Seems cool. Anyone know if they will have 1 line going for qualification rounds then another for finals or just go at it:)

I think Gravy has it in the mens!
Kitner in the womens.

not to put you down or anything but Kniter hasn't had a very good year, i think she popped her knee out riding with Bryn she flat landed a jump or something.

Anyway the chick that won BMX worlds has possible the strongest chance of the gold medal, i can't remember her name off the top of my head though.

Defs taking the 20th off school just to watch the BMX.

Anyone get around to watching the whole opening ceremony? I watched like 25 minutes of it.... Fell asleep. Bored shitless, then I woke up and watched some more, then fell asleep again, then watched about 15 countries walk in then fell asleep, then woke up to my mums voice "I'm going to bed now, you should go to"

Pretty boring. But it was pretty spectacular at the same time.
