after riding a scottie (http://www.mwg.com.au/scottie.html) [scott reflex 40] for 2 years it was time to upgrade.
i was way impressed with the reflex, for the money, so i kept
with the scott theme. not sure of the weight but should be in the 10's
possibly late 10's because it is a large frame.

specs are pretty much stock
- - - - - - - - - - - -
weight: 10.98kg [completely stock]
scott carbon 30 CR1 Technology
fox RL 100 forks
crane creek headset - i think this is the only change from stock as a .AU build
mavic crossride disc
avid juicy 5's
LX shifting to LX front, XT shadow rear
scott branded - seatpost, stem, seat, bars, grips
Truvativ Firex cranks
rolling on Schwalbe Racing Ralph's

Woah .

Very nice, have you taken it for a trail spin yet? How are the tyres?

I have go to say that stem has a really big rise, does it feel cruisey ? Or do you have a very long torso?

I think a spec list is necessary

no trail spin yet. i only picked it up last night so no
set up changes yet. just a short 10km roadie session
to the train station. i am quiet tall with long arms
and legs.

and after riding the reflex for 2 years any improvement
feels cruisey

as for weight no idea late 10's i would guestimate

Looking forward to riding your new beasty next week Matt. I promise to drop it and put at least a few scratches on it (you know you'll feel much better once you get over the first few scratches... I'm here to help!).

Guys if anyone on this forum is deserving of a great bike it's this guy.

Congrats sir!

PS: I might part out my Ti project for you Matt. So I have a few spares for you:
- XTR Shadow rear derailleur (it's carbo yo!)
- KCNC quick release skewers (45g a pair!)
- XTR rear cassette
- SRP grips (16g a pair!)
- Cycle King Carbon Saddle (94g) if you dare LOL.

WOW, that carbon frame looks amazing. It is mind blowing what bike companies can do now, and this is no exception. As far as the spec goes... lovely, but I personally would change the brakes, but thats just my opinion.

Very Very Nice.

ha. thanks mr fox. its been a while coming but he is finally
here. its exciting when a plan comes together.
i think i might even take you up on the scratch [just one]
then i can blame you for the downfall of newness.
as for the parts you crack me up. it will be interesting
to weigh it though as it is. stock. [+ grit in the chain]

scotts site says 10.5 but i would imagine that being the weight
of either the small or medium frame. not the large.

as for looks you really can't fault it, the frame is the biz.
the detail is great, at all tube ends, the carbon weave tapers
off to a solid black and thankfully they didn't over do the
graphics rapping it all up.

i added some more pics on the first post. some more
frame build details.

so i went over to justin's (http://farkin.net/forums/showthread.php?t=141394) last night and weighed carbo.
basically as a stock off the shelf buy he came in at...
10.98kg
having said that we also just pulled the scott seat post
and scott seat out and then he weighed in at 10.35.
so there is a lot of smallish up grades i can do to bring
him down to sub 10. thats the goal.
just don't tell management - i quote...
"there is to be no more money spent on bikes...
you just spent XXXX why do you need to buy more stuff for it....

there is also the fact that the bike is a LARGE size frame.
as seen here next to justins tinee wheeny scale.

I didn't get to ride it as the bike's just too big for me (lol).

I did however get to take the stem off and lower it some on the steerer (yeah I almost got to scratch it!!!).

The carbon frame's surreal to touch. It doesn't feel like a bike, feels more like plastic! Very strange. Unreal stuff.

Sub 11kg stock! very nice.

yeah was awesome to go around to justins. forgot to thank you.
so thanks! hahaaa. saying thanks via a forum. so web 2.0.

was great to talk bike shit for a few hours. there is so much stuff
i am going to do. first thing is to take the racing ralph tires off
and save them for racing. weight will increase once i put the
cross+marks on but they are more realist for training and such.

need to sort out the controls and the right degree angle for the
juicy's as well as spacing them correctly to be promoting 1 finger
breaking. i do have issues with the "LEFT" front lever. it needs
a bleed as it engages late which means with one finger braking i
pretty much crush my knuckles. [yes left is for front - right is for
back - its the way of the future you know!]

i will put the egg beaters on once i find the right spanner to take
of the SPD's and justin, i have a stem top cap that is scott branded
not LBS to fix that.

again thanks for the 5mm spacer looks much better but the stem
still isn't straight... lol... i think?#!!

funniest thing is next to the weeny scale it made carbo look
like a bloody 29er.

If your levers are set up right for one finger braking, the lever shouldnt really touch your knuckles. I had the same problem but i just moved everything more inwards and now the lever has full movement without my other fingers restricting it.

true i see what you are getting at here

Justin Fox

Yup the positioning of the lever is not in-bound enough but that's not the main problem here. The main problem is that 30-40% of the lever stroke does nothing at all and adjusting the lever reach doesn't fix that either.

What's with the Hayes rotor?

nice and light scott do so well with carbon. although would like to know if it flexs in the rear triangle when you get out off the saddle and sprint. but nice, roll on

cheers

as justin said. it isn't the position of the levers.
even when they are positioned in closer the line
still needs bleeding there is i would say closer to 40%
movement before engagement, and the knuckle
sandwich between lever and grips. we did adjust the
lever out but it is starting to get to far out even for
my long fingers.

wellsey. nice eyes. tis a hayes rotor. MMMM????
not sure why? don't know if i should request the
avid rotor replacement up front?
the set up is 185 front - 160 rear.
at 85kg i feel comfortable with running a 185 at
the pointy end. 160 would be suffice but... i am
not that much of a weight weenie and as justin
and i discussed confidence is a good thing when
you are riding/racing

codner - there is flex. no doubt, but on acceleration
you really don't notice it that much.

IMHO the frame does flex quiet a bit. a surprising
amount compared to my old alloy frame. the first
trail ride i did, [image below] i stopped 3-4 times
thinking i had a flat at the back but it was a combo
of lower tire pressures, the schwalbe's and their
ballon like traits and the flex at the back triangle.
the ride is about 30-40% less harsh as on the alloy
frame i used to ride.

just another proud dad pic

hey man.
i got the same one last month.
there great!
i have found that the carbon chainstays have enough flex to let the tire hit the frame when out of the saddle peddling. so im running a 2inch fast fred instead.
also.
i flipped my stem upside down. put spacers above stem. gold ODI ruffian grips. White sigma speed-o
she looks pimp now.
good luck with her!
