Hi All,

The threads that my bleed nipple screw in to on my XT 4-pots are knackered. I can screw the nipple in but it will never tighten, so suspect someone overtightened them for me when my bike was bought many many years ago and now it's broken when I tried to do a bleed :( *cries*

As these brakes are actually quite decent, could somebody suggest me a solution to fix this issue? Ideally I want to keep the brakes the same, and would like to do this in the most affordable way possible.

Thanks in advance :)
Theo

maybe try to wrap alot of plumers tape (i mean alot, so you can barely see the thread) around the nipple thread. this will help seal the nipple even if its not tight. other than that, maybe take it to an engineering shop, put a new helithread in it? dont know how many shops will deal with things that small though.

have tou tried contacting shimano?

I had one of the mounting screws strip out on my four pots too and I ended up getting a 're-coil kit thingy done and it has been working fine ever since. I am not sure how small they go but we just went to the local bearing place.

I might try the recoil thing. Not particularly keen on putting thread tape into a hydraulic cavity on a bike.. Never know what might break off and get lodged in there!!

Cheers chaps :)
