After removing & replacing the front wheel on my bike, I've noticed that my front brake hardly needs to be pulled for the brakes to engage - I've obviously done something unintentionally to cause this, but what?

How do I go about adjusting the distance I have to pull the brake lever? I now have a front brake which doesn't match the amount I have to pull on the back brake - I'd like them to be the same again :p

Is it a v brake or a disk brake?

If its a disc have you tried adjusting the spacing of the pads from the rotor there should be about 1mm either side of the disc, if its a v brake just adjust the tension on the cable at the leaver or at the brake.

Sounds like your pads got pushed out when the wheel was out.

Without the front wheel in, gently lever the pads apart with a very clean flat screwdriver.

It'll normalise eventually but pushing them in will help now. I think that's the problem assuming you ride a Thermo with hydro discs.

you probably pulled the brake lever in while the front wheel was out, try gently pressing your pads back in, what type of brakes are we dealing with?

I don't know much about that model but are they auto adjust or manual, mine are manual so I just use an allen key the fix up the spacing. The LX are probably better models but they might be adjustable by hand.
If they aren't you could go to the shimano website and download a manual for them it should tell you in that.

assuming you ride a Thermo with hydro discs.Avanti Aggressor with LX Hydros - 'TH3RM0' was coined before I was even into bikes, so it's just a coincidence :)

Pushing the pads back has fixed it - I actually have to pull a bit more than before, but it's no big deal. At least they're relatively equal now.
