Thank you,

I got a bit of a collection problem from my brother... after spending around $5,500 on a watch I think I am going to be holding back on buying things for a while... Still pretty damn happy with it though.

This is my current fave and a bit of a departure from my usual flashy gear:

Casio F-91W. A steal at 5 quid ($10) from Amazon

Also this monstrosity cam into my possession recently. It's so hideous and tacky that it's kinda cool!

i have a tissot t760. 150th Anniversary edition. Its awesome

Sapphire Crystal face (can only be scratched by diamonds)
titanium body and strap

basically bullet proof. My girlfriend calls it the death watch cos it scratches and takes off skin if i leave in on at night. It also strips paint and chips plaster :eek:

Im chasing a Geneve 2 hand dress watch when i can afford it, but at $109,000 ill be waiting a while :)

Tag Heuer “Monaco Vintage” - definately not as expensive as some already shown - but a nice watch.

Personally, i find that way too complex. The colors and the multiple chronos make it hard to read the time at a glance.

My current watch has 3 hands a small digit window for the date. Even that is too complex for me.

I have a Rolex GMT II, but it's a fake. But a very high quality fake. It has sapphire glass, came in a Rolex box and even the internals have a rolex stamp on them.

You do have a point Wattsy - although the Monaco Vintage is the top of the line in the Monaco Series. The Monaco 'Classic' is very simple, and only has 1 pair of hands from memory.

I use a Seiko Kinetic (had it for 9 years now), and do like it for it's simple layout.

Best picture I could find of it.

Do you watch collectors ever pull the cases off the things?

I'm fascinated by timepieces, but more by all the cool bits inside them. If I ever end up 'collecting' anything, it'll definately be old watches/clocks. ones that I can see inside, and watch the bits moving.

Fake Chinese Dragon Rolex

I have a few fake chinese rolexes. Actually they sell them as "genuine good copy" The family has made a couple of trips and we alwayse get a couple. I was surprised when i went over there and bought one. I got it home still working which as a miracle in itself, but it managed to outlive its band. Which was still only a couple of months. It amazing how they work when you pull the back off only to find out its mostly plastic.

I usually pull them all apart for the fun of checking it all out...

Fortunately I used to work as a watchmaker so I have all the tools..:D

Tools? Plural?
You mean I need more than my hammer?

Seriously though, you were a watchmaker? That's awesome! Are watchmakers still needed for modern watches, or is the industry changing?

Generally they are still needed for modern watches but for simple jobs, such as Battery changes, Replacing Glasses or hands, Circuit reseting and pressure testing.

you very rarely find someone come in with a nice old Automatic or Manual watch to fix. Its good when you get them though.

Lots and lots of tools... Hundreds almost.
