Hi Peeps,
I am considering buying a specialized enduro Expert, these look to be an awesome bike. Can anyone else suggest some comparable bikes?

Not very familiar with the Specialised, but the various Reigns go from All mountain to free ride. I ride a Reign XO for All mountain through to downhill.
Kone are making some interesting bikes with variable geometry now, I've yet to see one in the flesh or ride them.

There are so many options for this type of bike. I just bought a Reign X1 for an awesome price. I was looking at some of the Norco and Specialized bikes but bit pricey for their specs. Lots of run out deals on 08's around.
New Trek remedy does look nice though..... I so need a second job:rolleyes:

Whats your budget??
Intense Tracer.
Nigel Page rode one at Schladming in the 6" setting and reconed he was not too far off the pace. The biggest bonus is you can ride it back up the hill again...

Hey mate,
I think the bike that you will loose the most sleep over is the new scott Genius. Just a pitty we won't get our hands on any of the limited bikes that were made. Check em out with all the gold bling bits heheh
Enduro's ride nice and plush, Reigns are great and handle the dh bits a bit better. These new Scott's with the adjustable front and rear controls mean that if you know how to ride...this bike is going to be a weapon.
Cheers,
Specialized sx trail's are pretty sweet bikes.

Are you talking pro-07 enduros or the current ones?
The old enduros are the bomb. The new ones, not so.

I just got my 2009 Giant Reign X1 and so far i cant fault it. It pedals so much better than a bike with 170mm of travel should and its alot cheaper than the Enduro. Although the price has gone up due the whole U.S stock market thing. I was lucky coz i ordered mine when the rrp was $3195 now its like $3599 or something and i got mine for $2900 so I am stoked:D

I love my bullit ... especially now that it ain't so porky ... it has done everything I've asked of it ... from oaks to thredbo.
Its had various builds, and just keeps on keeping on. I'd really love an 08 Bullit with floating rear ... but then again, I'd also love a Nomad or a Blur LT.

There was a guy from Bikeworx (I think) riding a 2009 Kona Coilair. It had this cool thing called a magic link. When your weight was further back on the bike, ie, when descending (riding downhill), it pushed the link forward and gave you 6-7" (I can't remember) of rear travel. When your weight is forward for climbing, the link is pushed back, shortening the travel to 2-3". Seems like a pretty good option if you ask me.

im sort of in this catagory too, looking for a new freeride bike, but the demo 8's anyone got any info on them about riding back up. the cherry red with white pinstripes i looovvvveeee, :D lol but if if not whats a 7 inch travel that'll do freeride, single track, fire trail, etc, a bit of xc, and i ride round the streets too, working up those muscles lol. What about something in the ironhorse range?? fi its really worth it i'll save for it =]=]=]
castlo out,
any one got any specific experience in the 7 or 8 inch travel range with a demo 8 about climbing capabilities pm me =]=]

Check out the Banshee Rune in the latest edition of AMB I ride a XL the frame weighs just under 4 kilos this beast can do it all. Super stable for high speed desending a lot easier to pedal than a six. Uses Vf4b {virtual floating 4 bar} design you can defiinately pedal to the top But AMB has rated it one of the best desenders at speed better than some of the best of the shelf downhill bikes. Check out their web site Any thing with over 6 inches isn't gonna peadal well I reckon.

I have an 08 specialized enduro with the E150 fork and its absolutely AWESOME, well worth the money , it makes me smile and suprises me everytime i go out on it, definately get one if its in your price range. The 2007 enduro with the E150 fork had loads of problems with the forks , it was all fixed for 2008 , then the 2009 enduros come with fox forks EXCEPT the top of the range S-WORKS which still has the E150.
The question you asked was WHAT IS THE BEST AM BIKE ? You could consider some of the more expensive and handmade bikes that are well up in any argument....
Knolly endorphin
Ellsworth moment / epiphany
Turner 5-spot / RFX
Nicoli helius / ufo
Chumba Evo
banshee rune as said above
Santa cruz ......
The list goes on , but you can spend as much or more on one of these frames as you can on a complete specialized enduro comp or expert.
The enduro has 6inches of travel at both ends and can do absolutely everything, i have rode everything from downhill to XC races on it. My bike weighs 14.15KG , the forks have a 120mm lockout and the back end locks right out for climbing (i rarely bother locking them out), the bike is standard apart from i run UST nevegals with stans for strength and reliability, CB joplin post, WTB seat, DX pedals and i swapped the juicy brakes for Avid elixirs as the have awesome stopping power.
You can probably pick up a 2008 for a decent price now too.
