View Full Version : Jetman Live ON TOMORROW CHANNEL 517 AT 9PM 26/9
Its on National Geographic Adventure at the moment. It's live so if something goes wrong then we will see it. Channel 517 on foxtel. It's about a man who built himself a wing with model jet engines and he is going to fly across the english channel using it.
Edit - Its been canceled and is on Tomorrow at the same time now.

look it up on youtube, bloddy cool.
It's amazing he has no actual controls on the wing, he uses his head, arms and shoulders to steer it.

Most over-hyped thing ever.
Very cool indeed, but hardly "a moment in aviation history" or "a glimpse into the future of aviation".
Not even a footnote.
How many would have watched it if they'd billed it as " Highly experienced and very rich pilot flies jet powered hanglider across the English Channel... with a parachute"?
If you ask me the film they showed of him flying his cool toy over the Swiss Alps earlier in the program was much more impressive... and in all probability more dangerous.
I have to agree with NCR600 here. Was actually an incredibly boring show. Was more than an hour of 2 boring americans talking.

Now I can't wait for people to start strapping bigger jet engines on to try and do it faster. Then we'll see some action.

I suspect that is what all the hype is about. More coverage equals more sponsors, which in turn equals more money, presumably to build a faster and better handling one.

Yup. It's also pretty much been done already by nuts skydiver Felix Baumgarter. He built a composite wing and glided across the channel a couple of years ago, all Rossy's done is add a couple of jet engines.
I'd be more impressed if he took off and landed with it rather than rely on a plane and parachute.
