G'day, was wondering if anyone from here was participating in the 8 hour endurance race at kurwongbah?
Apparently it uses most of the track from the insomnia 24h.
So I wan wondering, that seeing as I have to change tyres anyway, if anyone had any recommendations for this terrain?
Anything else I should do to get myself and my bike ready for my first race?
Anyone have any idea about what the area is like at all?
I'm guessing there wont be much climbing action because kurwongbah is pretty flat.
Also wondering if anyone has any ideas about what i should do for my training in the week leading up to this.

Have you checked out www.mtbdirt.com.au ? Local mtb website for SEQ. A whole thread about the race. Just needed to sign up and away you go.

Entered but riding there for the first time so not much help on the tyre choice.
Plus I am on a 29er so that wont help you much either.
Looking forward to it though.
Watch out for me out there on this:

Only problem with that is that you have to join up to view the site.
Then your head just hurts all the time from hitting it against a wall.

Hey mate, I helped out there at a recent trail building day, the track is about 11km long, no real climbs of concern and overall pretty simple to get around, on the day we cruised around as a group for a lap and completed it in about 40-45min.
It uses sections on the Insomnia track, some in reverse, at Insomnia where you rode around the dam wall at the start, this is ridden in reverse and is toward the end of the lap.
Most people, new and experienced shouldn't have any issues completing laps, the fast guys, I'd expect to be doing under 30min laps.
