I thought it was really good. Nice camera work etc etc. I think definately props but a descent camera would make it even better.

i think you have done an awsome effort, well done. but i don't you if any other guys noticed it but, in my opion i think you were doing abit too much "panning shots" (if that's a video technique) where you start from the left and work the shot to the right and visa (sp?) versa
but it's a awsome effort none the less

with the panning, Tom told me too :p.
i think that probally has more to do with the editing (sorry tom) or the quality of the panning. If you watch all the top of the line mountain bike videos, if you watch carefully you will see that there is heaps of panning done. but yeah thats what tom said :).

I agree, follow the bike with the camera, rather than panning in the opposite direction to the rider. And maybe less fading in/out?
But I make shit videos so my opinion is moot.

Thank you for the comments. especially the criticism since that is what i want.
Basically the reason there is so much panning is to make up for the quality of the camera. I was trying to make it a bit more interesting since aspects such as the movement of suspension and dust are lost with the resolution.
The reason we dont have many follow shots is just due to how hard it is to move the tri-pod since it is designed for photos not filming. It took us heaps of takes just to get the follow shots we have which still are not very good.
There is no way I can film free hand since i have a genetic disposition of shaky hands. its basically like i have Parkinson's and its been that way since i was about 6 (you can see this abit, even with the tripod, in the first half)
I totally agree with the fading as well. that was just my easy way out when the transition between clips didn't look very smooth. I toned it down on the second half of the movie.
I am surprised no one has called me out on the obscene amount of letter boxing used. But if any one does. I thought it gave it a more cinematic feel and it also aloud me to tidy up and crop the shots a little.
No one has said anything about the slow mo yet:D so I am happy about that.
Thanks for the reply's and keep them coming.
EDIT: It is a super fun track on a hard-tail. My mate was doing it on a Norco 250.
