1200 bucks for the set and as far as ive found (i was looking for a set ages ago but this put me off) you cant get replacment rims thats right, you stuff the rim and you gotta buy a whole new wheel  that was a while ago though they might have started selling rims seperate now, i doubt it though...

Don't waste your money on deemax.

If you want to spend $1200 on new wheels buy a set of hadley hubs and lace them up to the mavic tubless rim. End up with the same wheel as a deemax but with way better hubs and the ability to rebuild if something goes wrong.

arnt the mavic tubeless rim (d3.1 or something) 200 bucks a rim and i know hadleys are more than 800 a set, plus spokes and wheel build :D anyway i wouldnt get deemax either, another good option for hubs is hope hubs (bulb if your not running hope brakes and want a more affordable option) or big 'uns if your running hope brakes (5 bolt only) and want a much beafier (and more expensice) option...... or hugi freerides...

Yellow is so last year. Get with the times, pink is the new color. If you want to be a "cool" mountain bike rider you need pink rims, spokey dokes and handle bar streamers.........

Come on, really, you want the rims just because they are yellow?? That is so LAMO. Function over looks any day.

I must not be fashionable.
I reckon Deemax are Farkin ugly rims. Is it just me?

no pink is not cool ok..............

ANYWAY, I want the yellow ones because I know for a fact they would look great with my BB7.......

unless someone else can sugest a decent rim and hub set up that would look cool.........
yes I am after image.

Definately check out the spinergy Xyclone , the fall line ones(dh version).
I think they are custom made for each order 8) , and i'd say they would have a price tag to match
they are carbon-composite spokes, tubeless, and supposedly super light.
They come in white,Yellow, Blue, black or red spoke options

I've seen this done in the past: get 321s, powdercoat them yellow, make up some Deemax stickers, build them onto some black hubs, go nuts.

On a hijacking note....how are UST rims laced to hubs? considering the nipple hole isn't all the way thru the rim!? I noticed threads on the spoke holes...does that mean the nipple screws in? and who makes such nipples?

As for DeeMax....notice how not many pro riders use them! maybe coz the hubs aren't greatly versitile and two the rim is only 28 holes, and thus not as strong as other mavic rims!

I like the silver rim...too bad other dh rims aren't that colour!

And true that to whoever suggested Spinergy Fall Line...no personal experience but those PBO spokes seem to be amaze (u can tie them in a knot!)

umm.. actually you can buy replacement rims, i think they are $220, but you need to send the wheel back to mavic to get it rebuilt. I still can't see how you could break one, but if you do they are there to get.

with the old ones ( that are yellow ) they must be a standard spoke size because my mate is running deemax hubs on 521 rims

I couldve gone deemax but opted for HugiFR and 321 combo 8)
I dont think deemax hubs go to 165mm width anyway?

Mavic rims can uses standard nipples. Theres a cover that screws into the rim and holds the nipple in place. The cover requires a special tool of cource.

I don't really ride the sort of bikes that DeeMax are ment to be seen on, can someone tell me what is so whop-di-do about them?? Is it just that they're light cause they only have 28 spokes?? Or more cause they're yellow and look "pimp"? (in which case you could always go and get a set of Alex DX32's)

Much better hubs out there for the $$, that don't use as much proprietry stuff either. And that's a big issue, proprietry (and overpriced) spares.

Hrm, fashion makeover for your BB7 eh?
I'm sure we could come up with something... you can always go to extremes like getting rims powdercoated, or even crazy things like running heatshrink on your spokes, to get the look you want!

Nothing special about deemax rims at all.

The old ones are yellow D321's, and the new ones are grey EX783's, nothing special about them at all.

And the hubs are crap compared to hugi, hadley, king etc.

Up to you, i'd just buy some good hubs and lace up some standard mavic rims.

Theres at least one company making a rip off of deemax yellow rims, same colour, stickers that are reminiscent of the deemax ones (but say something different), similar external rim profile.... And cheap I think.
it may,may have been Alex, could have been FIR or something too, I'm not sure

Thanks genius, haha i was referring to my own choice of hugi/321 as opposed to deemax (i needed a 165mm hub for my frame) :P
Anyway i dont see any justification in going out and paying for deemax wheels aftermarket, not knocking those who have - but IMO its all just in the wank factor   Even if mavic came knocking on the door saying they'd made a 165mm width rear hub Deemax wheelset i still wouldnt change over.

This all seems so funny, i've turned into a component snob over the course of 12months... lol

well i am going against the whole point of all of this chit chat and saying that yes you can get the rims in either yellow or silver. your choice. it has them in the lil mavic booklet. so whichever one you like. i am not 100% sure which year this book was though....but it did have a yellow or silver choice.

Hot, maybe...risky, very. The spokes are made of some fibre that if exposed to sunlight, deteriorates their strength. The white you see over the spokes is just a protective coating, and if you hit a rock and it flings up and hits the spoke, and damages the white coating, they're fucked.

As for the yellow, why not just buy some Alex DX 32's, then build em up on Hadley's? Strong as a peice of shit, except fo the hub, and a fair bit cheaper. :P
