Hey,
After searching up and down for various parts and bikes lately, it got really fustrating seeing a bike that i liked, but only after i had PM'ed the guy that i realise its in another state.
Its not a real big problem, as thats what "Location:" is for, but it'd be handy if there was a way to implement a filter that can filter out some of the key things. Maybe split up some of the trading subforums into different states, or like a filter that can filter out all products outside of a certain state?
Don't know if its been asked before, but i thought i'd just chuck the suggestion out there.
or you could pay the shipping costs :P

On a full bike? i dont think so...
Small parts are fine, but for complete bikes and wheels or for sellers who dont post.
postage on a complete bike is like $100 max
and anyway the likelihood of finding exactly what you want in your state are very slim

You could always just do a search in the For Sale section and put the state you wish to filter out into the search field..
This isn't an exact method because some people put there state name in "location" field and others put suburb names but I have used this method a couple of times and turned out some good results. You will of course have threads come up that have posts like "how much for postage to <insert state name here>" etc..
The creation of State based sub sections in the For Sale area would be quite a time consuming task actually because this would require the Admins to find all the threads from each state and move them into the new sub sections.
My $0.02

Yeh, but then again if i search "brisbane" i'll miss out on peoples sales that are listed as a suburb or places that arent very far away, (2hrs can get me a long way).
Shipping is ok i suppose, but not many sellers can do it, and i dont like putting down big money interstate to buy something of an anonymous seller.
Also alot of website have similar filters, so i dont think it would be too hard, although i have no idea about websites, Also if subforums were changed- theres no need to rearrange old threads.
Theres also heaps of stuff for sale where i am? thats why i suggested this.

I've already suggested this in another thread here (http://www.farkin.net/forums/showthread.php?t=139557). Simple to install but it didnt take off.

Oh ok, well yeh, that idea sounds really good and after skimming through that thread it seems not that hard to implement?
Anyway i thought it was a good idea but yeh.
Also why do people always say "the chances of finding something locally is slim to none"? wtf? I'm pretty sure theres as much stuff in every state. Also if you want something exact then you wouldnt buy second hand, you'd buy it from a store?

Just noticed the new implementation of my/this idea!
Thank you admin. Works pretty good, just gotta give it time for all new threads to use it and it'll work a treat.

or you could possibly like you said do a filter with state and also brand, year, condition e.t.c.
that would make it so much easier to find what your looking for

Just an extra tip, if you hover your mouse over the title a little box comes up with the first couple of lines ;) saves you clicking on it to look at price/location.
I love the new improvements though!

lol, Of course the little lines pop up, but alot of people don't use the normal template, also if you live in brisbane, how would you know every suburb in Aus?
Filter for location is all that is needed. Filters for other stuff should be left for places like Ebay!

I think a template should be somthing you have to fill out as you go when puting somthing up for sale and that you shouldn't be able to post up the thread without filling it out first.
