I'm using mallet and they are better than shimano's for DH imho.
I'm going back to flats for DH though, I am sure I will be faster as I will push my limits on everycorner that much more but won't realy loose out on the pedalling, just a little acceleration.
XC, 4x, bmx racing clips all the way, but DH I reckon flats is the better idea.

I use good old DX. I have the release set fairly loose though. If you can learn not to hang your foot out and rail the corners instead you will be faster anyway

If you want to do it on the cheap I have a pair of 3 week old shimano pedals. Just the entry level ones. But you can have them for $50. Pm me.

i can't help but think this is a really stupid comment. wouldn't it just come down to personal prefference - whether you like spd's (having with less float and a more in/out feel) or egg beaters. would you care to justify your reasoning.
