i think the big hit because they look alot more better than the kona and they are pretty light and smooth. My $0.02.

valentine we need more info. give us a year and model of bike and then we can compare. e.g the 09 specialized bighit 2 versus the 07 kona stinky.

Both are great bikes. I ride a bighit at the moment and its great. i don't think you could go wrong with either of them but for us to realy give you advice on the bikes we need more info on the specs.

An STP 0 would suit what you want to do. and you might be able to get a good deal on the older 08 ones

Don't get an stp they don't have a very good head angle for downhill or freeride good for the other riding you want to do. I would personaly check out the norco freeride hardtails because they are great allround hartails for like everything.
All though i still think its better to get a second hand duelie. Look around you can get some good bargins and its a hell of a lot cheaper. you might have to replace one or two parts. You can do so much more on a duel suspension bike jsut the wat it absorbs bumps. Like doing thredbo fast is not possible on a hardtail because you get so shaken up its not funny. Duelies are definetly more fun to and worth the money.

another pic of the big hit (http://www.nsmb.com/assets/images/gear/crankworx08_gear/big_hit_closeup.jpg)

do you want to get a HT or a dual.
if you where looking at a dual, go for the big hit.
but on the other hand if you where looking at gettin a 09 norco HT go for the norco rampage. its got a great spec list with plenty of travel.
and aslo comes with the new truvativ HammerSchmidt

Stinkys are single pivot, Bighits are 4 bar. That should be enough for anyone.

stinky-less travel,less weight,poor rear shock,unless you go 4 stinky supreme
big hit-few shock mount options,to change travel and geometry, downhill, freeride etc.heavier frame.
ive got big hit expert frame, and loving it.used to have stinky...no thanx

The FSR 4 bar linkage is really good too. Soo much better than a 50 million year old design like a Kona.

the 09 big hit needs blue pedles and blue grips to sick.
