Hey guys,
This is my DH beast.
Sherman Slider Plus 7", front wheel is a hadley hub w/ pyscho rim, rear wheel is a 24" Mag 30. She goes like the clappers!! But its time for a frame upgrade....

Hey bikeman_baldrik,
Just because its time. Every year I upgrade. Shes done me well though. Ive learnt how to downhill, jump, and ride a bit of street. Im keen to either sell the frame or sell the whole bike. Its an awesome bike - its got 90 settings. The wheels are what I would miss... very nice.
Not sure what I would upgrade to.. probably not a new bike (lack of dollars) Maybe a second hand beast from farkin!

Thats a nice bike you got there. What would you upgrade to?
`DHChick

Maybe a Yeti DH or ASX
Or a Giant DH Comp.
Not really sure. Im just scouting around. Id love to be able to test ride a DH9 to see what they are like.

I think you'd be better off holding onto that for a while and waitin till you've got the money you need to get a brand new machine. But that decision is yours (obviously).
As said before, its a very nice machine and i'm sure you'd miss it.

nice ride. could you imagine 888's on that beast :D . mmmmm btw your headangles not really steep. is that at its normal setting or have you set it up like that? and how steep can you adjust it?
`DHChick
15-06-2004, 10:25 AM
Yeah I was playing around with the settings that day. It was just a photo I took for all the ads I was making up to sell it.
Its set up a little different now.
Its currently set up with 7 inches of travel, and a 66 degree head angle. Much safer for me with my over the handle bar trips I was having. It's much better now...
It can be set up with a 61 - 71 degree head angles.
The wheel base, bottom bracket height, seat angle and travel is all adjustable. The travel is adjustable from 4 - 10 inches.

thats sick, so much ajustment, what more could u want
`DHChick
15-06-2004, 11:17 AM
A smaller frame... Im not that big or strong and Im looking for maybe a shorter travel machine I can do eveything on.
Its served me very well. And it is still serving me. And will keep serving me until some one decides they need it.

ha! how much shorter than 4 inches do you want to go, ive got a ht frame ill sell ya cheap :D lol sick bike 61 degress FAAAAAAAAAAAAARK thats slacker than my duel slalom ht with monsters was by faaaar
`DHChick
15-06-2004, 12:40 PM
Yeah but then you are racing a 4inch bike that is the same weight as a full on DH rig.
Ill rephase it. I would like a smaller, lighter dual susser. Im gonna have a good look at a Yeti ASX frame.
Im a chick and Im not strong. I need something a little more me friendly.

yeti asx's arent that much lighter
have a look at Orange if you want light

yea id defanatly be looking at the opranges maybe a patriot 7 or something....
`DHChick
15-06-2004, 05:12 PM
A Patriot 7+ would be nice, but I need to have a ride on one to know that it is the bike for me. Plus it's a little out of my price range :)
Any other options anyone can think of...?
Nice bike!
If you think these bikes are inferior to the DH comp or the Yeti, just ask marshy about his! his ridden the red bull's and the norbas and that on it and it rocks!
How ever (Warning , blatent plug) maybe consider a more advanced design? instead of something with less travel, maybe consider more efficiant travel? like an F-1?

Thanks dude,
I don't have any quams about the workingness (seriously not a word) of the Mongoose. She's just a touch on the heavy side for me. Ive got a serious lack of upper arm strength. I know I know... go to the gym, lift some weights. The Mongy is set up a bit differently and I just spent the past 2 hours at teh jump park, learning how to jump on a beasty dual suser.
Excuse my lack of biking knowledge, but what's an f-1???
:)

By the look of that there is a bit of weight in your components, cromo cranks and mag30 rims weight a ton! orange patriot 7+ or 222 are the lightest bikes around but, they have to suit your riding style. Giant DH is heavy but they are a light bike to ride as the majority of hte weight is down near the bottom bracket.
Excuse my lack of biking knowledge, but what's an f-1???

thos mongooose are mad the best mongoose around + 90 differnet shock positons thats insane and doesnt that bike come with dorados?
Superman
15-06-2004, 08:23 PM
or what you have with:
Sherman Breakout instead of Slider+
Lighter rims
lighter crank
Ti spring or if not possible 5th element with Ti
lighter stem
but yeah if you really want to save alot more weight a new frame would be a goer

Yeah, I did get the Mongoose frame, but my boyfriend had already bought the Dorados off the frame kit. I run a set of Sherman Slider Plus, pretty awesome fork for a chick.

breakouts are 1.5 inch headtube only which i seriously doubt the mongoose is superman and a 5th element ti spring is around 600 dolalrs so its probably cheaper to upgrade the whole frame :D

Pretty awesome fork full stop i reckon. That's a nice bike for sure, the parts spec could be lighter but hey at least it won't break in a hurry :)
p.s I know of a mint Yeti AS-X frame for sale for an absolute steal (pm me if you want details)

Yeah I upgraded from the 2003 Sliders (the 6 inch ones) to the Slider Plus'. They are pretty sweet. And Im pretty attached to my hadley hubs, but if the price is right..
upgrade the whole frame
I knew you'd say that...

steve marsh rode one on the red bull ride II vid
totally adjustable rear end
check out the gemini bicycles (mongoose australia) site
for all the adjustments you can setup
on that frame
i'd go the patriot as well, the ASX's are pretty hefty. A normal patriot would probably be cool as well. I knwo they have a few 03 ones they need to get rid of.

Yeah everyone Ive been talking to has said to buy an Orange.
Apparently they are really nice..
Or the Gemini. Have a look at the new Clict mag for a test on one.

The Geminis look pretty nice. Can't really start seriously looking until someone snaps up my sexy bike. :)

I love the mongoose DH
I had the pleasure of checking it out a couple of weeks ago
really sweet bike
cheers
I reckon with a pair of dorados or boxxers
it would really go off
especially with all those 90 frame adjustments
and it's quite a light bike overall as it's setup
in the photo so you can throw it around abit
