Check out our review (http://www.farkin.net/page.php?p=93648df244f5ca26170d287c3d1fc1bc) on the Da Bomb Cr8 BMX. Not the bike for me, maybe the bike for you.

A huge, unreserved "Thank's Bill, you're a legend mate!" to Bill at Downhill Direct (http://www.dhdirect.com.au) for hooking us up.

That was quite possibly the best review I've ever read. Thorough and honest.

 Awwww, would you still be saying that if you knew I was a uni student, with dreads, who intends to vote against Howard at the next election ;)

Having just finished testing a .243 Racing frame, I would like to weigh in with my opinion on the whole "Da Bomb copied .243 to make the CR8" debate while there is an appropriate forum to do so.

If you genuinely believe that a CR8 is a copy of a .243 in anything but the cosmetic sense, you are a shitclown. The .243 is dialled in terms of geometry, the CR8 is far, far, far from it.

I already knew that... I'm a uni student whose hair is too short to be dreadded up, and who is still too young to vote

Can't wait to see the .243 review.

Did you find anything wrong at all with the DaBomb ring and bashplate at all? Im interested in investing in something like that.

Good review man, i also cant wait to hear the .243 review!

Nope, not a single problem. It copped a pretty reasonable hiding from grinding and trying to learn sprocket stalls too, that said, there are approximately 10,000,000 BMX companies out there making the exact same product with varying degrees of success, so don't just look at Da Bomb.

But they're on sale at Bill's for $45! :P

In that case, buy buy buy, you'd be lucky to get a decent BMX sprocket on its own for that price.

Like Ryan I rode both vehicles ... the .243 is sickness ... I could only manage to take it on a Cross Country journey ... :?

but it climbed like a goat .. the geometry on the .243 is perfect for alot of things ...

The cr8 was sketchy and felt uncomfortable in the air ... altough i may have been spoilt by the presence of the heckler ... I personally couldnt find a use for the cr8.

Also ... the worst Da Bomb product ever ... possibly the worst mtb product .. is the pedals .. wtf is up with those ??? if a bit of your sweat falls onto the pedal prepare for some slip and sliding action.

Awesome review mate.

Doubt it, people flock to the honest reviews, if manufacturers/importers want their stuff to get attention, they gotta give it to the people who other people believe!

How many people are gonna buy that bike compared to if AMB did a review of it tho? I doubt I would even consider that frame if I read that review of it..

I would be REALLY interested to see what AMB would have written about that bike had they gotten it to test..

And don't take this as raging on your review, I thought it was tops..

But that's the whole point... this actually forces the manufacturer to stop flogging off ratshit bikes/parts, and make their stuff decent! If they don't do that, they don't deserve to sell stuff IMO. Regardless of how nice a guy/company you may be, if you make substandard stuff, people shouldn't buy it! And when they do improve their stuff, they send it back to aforementioned honest reviewer, it gets a good review, and off they go. Everyone wins.

Everyone wins.
Except for AMB? :P

Really though, I dream of the day that we can get a mtb magazine (I just like being able to touch the pages; and don't go tell me to print websites) that is not only reputable and honest, but is in fact a pleasure to read, and would hold your interest without flashy pictures. Until then though, I guess I'll continue to be impressed by photography.

I can rave about it all you want right now, the things are great.

And how much was the bike like a BMX was it that, that threw you off it?

It was a lot like a BMX, a BMX with deeply whack geometry. I've ridden enough BMX's to know what a good one feels like...they don't feel like the CR8. Incidentally every BMX I've ever felt comfortable on has had a TT longer than 21", so that probably has something to do with it.

I've just been informed that the RRP for this frame is now $299 (was $599). That makes it quite a good deal......
