Im selling my bike in the for sale section (sold today) however just recently i have been receiving lots of PM's from people with 0 posts offering prices well below the asking price.
Im not sure if this is a common thing but it does seem a bit suss!

Anyone else experienced this?

Could always bring in the 5 post rule to PM's as well, as in can't PM til you've got 5 posts under your count.

That way theres no 0 poster PM'ers, and if they're a shit member they'll get banned by the time they reach 5 anyway :)

But having said that, it could stuff up the whole trading thing a bit.

+1, extremely happy with them both. Both of them have just joined, easy as.

This is only going to lead to problems with 0 Posters making stupid posts and clogging up FS threads.

When your selling the stuff and they need to put the money in before you send it (assuming your direct depositing) then go with them, you know if there for real or not as they will or will not put the money in. I have also had awesome trades with 0 posters.

I am not saying ALL 0 posters are bad
i have just had a few recently say they will commit to buy and not respond back, i don't actualy care if they decide not to buy, but when they dont respond after 3 weeks; without a "hey mate i can't continue with this transaction due to other commitmnets"
it starts to piss me off

im sorry i think i am ranting?

well if they haven't responded in three weeks i think its fair to assume that they no longer want the item. just re-advertise/bump and if they complain when you sell it on them just say bad luck. you were online and had more than a week to pay and you didn't.

Unless of course that 3 weeks is an exaggeration...

5 zero posters have contacted me on the same item. all have asked stupid questions and said they will pay in a few weeks. i also had a bike at the start of the year up for sale and a 0 poster wanted to meet up and everything. went to the place with bike and cash and he was a no show. pmed him and no response. i have had nothing but bad luck with them.

but will be happy if one comes along and acutely buy's my stuff

I agree, alot are tyre kickers looking for an extremely cheap item! Its almost as if people already on here start up a new account just to ask or make a stupid offer so they dont look like an idiot in cyberspace!

Post Counts are a wank. Some users don't post and only use Farkin as a Classifieds Listing. So whether they have 0 Posts or 1200 posts, it just explains what they use farkin for.

Honestly, welcome to the world of second hand parts sales, everyone wants everything for nothing and unfortunately the MTB/BMX community is full of dreamers. Luckily these are the minority.

The best way to get around them scamming time out of you is to explain the terms of your sale in the extra info section of the template, like so:

Extra Info: Contact must be made within 72 hours after agreeing to purchase, Full payment required in 7 Days.

If they don't contact, bump the item back up.

Just get over it, and if you must procceed to hate new users PMing you, just Delete their PM's that they send and have your thread clogged up with shit after they complain that you're not replying to their PM's.

Then two weeks later there'll be a thread on clogging up threads, Farkin's on a continuous loop.

Guys, I don't have many posts up, and i've had many successful trades with people (some unsuccessful). I don't always think its the 0 post people its the age of the poster. I'm not saying all young people are time wasters (I've traded with many and their great) but they're are the less likely to have the money. Any way I agree with tld-06. There is my $0.10
