black hill (Newcastle NSW) 4X 4th July '04

I was up visiting the lads @ drift yesterday talking about the black hill venue and found out that the 4th of july is the next 4X race up there. the website is a bit ambiguous so i thought a firm date wasn't set but proposed for july '04, not the 4th so it's on. keep an eye on

Yep, just a touch north of Newcastle.

Provided I get my forks sorted in time and aren't wasted from paintballing the day before I should be there. It should be a good day, the track looked sick for the GT MTX and apparently they have done/are planning to do some improvements before hand.

im sooo keen to ride its been extended and more jumps its gonna be a great funn day. as you go from the north coast to the south coast you come to that big roundabout on John Renshaw Drive near the BP Service Centre at Thornton and the truck shop, instead of going taward sydney go strait and its about 7klms but its private property so no go till races..

yeah, i saw those, but there isnt realy much there, just a few jumps. Iv'e seen a sketch of the layout of last years track, has it changed much? Someone said more jumps?

I went up last time to watch and was bummed i didn't race. i'm prety sure they've got pro/elite, sport & junior divisions so the groms should be able to have a shot too. just have a go!

needing a fullface depends on whether you're prone to landing on your head or having things land on your head.
I'll probably be wearing one cause i'm an old bastard and can do that sort of stuff cause i don't want to hurt myself so bad i can't go to work...got bills to pay.

I went in the GT mtx, the track looked nothing like the sketch in AMB.
At that event the only classes they had were expert (rennie,mills,madill,etc...) and sport, which had some top riders that were way above my ability, but hopefully there will be more riders this time around and they will have to make more classes. Hope to see lots of farkiners up there shredding!!

just as an update, i was up at the working bee on the weekend to check out the track and i've gotta say, any jumper or 4x nut worth their salt would be a complete idiot to miss out next weekend. it's going to be in-farking-sane! see y'all there

2 hours easy from snives, 45 mins from my place @ gosford.

getting there for us southerners is easy, head up the F3 till the end, turn left @ the roundabout on to john renshaw drive, the property is on the left a couple of kays up the road, called 'wyamba' i think but you'll see the GT MtnX signs from the F3 anyway. one of the earlier posts has a map if you can't cope with directions
