Im after a set of 18 or 19" Chrome mag wheels..

They must be of a 4 Stud pattern with a nissan offset that ill post later, once i find out the correct specs...

Even if anyone knows of good dealers other than Tempe or Ozzy Tyres!?

Australia's Best
www.tyres.com

They kick ass
I found the guys there to be much more helpful than Ozzy or Tempe. Ozzy and Tempe don't know shit, and try and tell you things will fit, when you already know they won't.

Pretty good.

Wanna buy it
I'm getting her ready to be sold, hopefully in the next few weeks.

Good luck with finding wheels. My friend has an R31 Skyline, and he reckons there's not much available for them.
I would have thought there was, but apparently not.
At least it's not an E-Series Falcon. It took me almost a yr to find wheels for my car

R31 HEY

Check out my website!!!

where'd he end up getting his wheels for his ride, i got a r31 passage, the pillarless, rb25det, t4, NOS only sometimes...

Let us know where he got his wheel..im rolling on 17's @ the moment, but need bigger!!

haha
He gave up. He was only chasing 17's as well.
I thought they shared the same stud pattern/offset as an S13 silvia/180sx...... in which case I would have thought wheels would have been as common as mud.

I seriously doubt you're going to find 18 or 19" rims to fit a Passage....
Also bear in mind 18" wheels will need a 30 profile tyre to keep the overall diameter about right, 19" ones will need a 20 (if they make them!) or 25 profile. I would suggest that an R31 needs a taller tyre than that for handling and it will be a bucket of shit in terms of ride, handling, and traction with 18 or 19" rims. 16" is as big as anyone needs on an R31, any bigger is beginning to head into rice territory unless you have massive brakes....

The stud pattern is the same as a silvia but the offset is not - silvia intended wheels will sit too close to the struts for decent sized tyres - they'll need spacers. R31's run about +20mm or thereabouts offset, silvias are like +40

It would be cool looking to run 18 or 19" rims, but a good set of 17" ones is about the limit for decent handling.

Have you thought about a 5 stud conversion? My information is that Z31 turbo 5 stud hubs will fit import R31's front and rear - then you just redrill your brake rotors to suit. In that case, R31 wheel offset is very close to GT-R offsets - so there would be heaps of wheels available, given that you would then have a GT-R offset and stud pattern. Really wide rims like 9"+ might need your guards rolled.
Theres at least one guy in the R31skylineclub who runs R34 GT-R rims (18x9", +30 offset) on his GTS-R coupe, and heaps in Japan who do it. R31house even sells hubs for the conversion.

How about before you go and by rims for your car you pay me the $100 you have owed me for about 4 months

*I apologise to everyone else reading this thread for bringing up personal shit, but i have called & PM'ed roostn247 repeatedly & he either ignores me or lies about sending me the money*

Is that your R31 with the red rocker covers and custom plenum, custom exhaust manifold, etc on the photo page?
Got any pics of the outside of the car?

And I better correct you on a couple of things for your website:
1. No such thing as an "R31 GTS-T". The import HR31 turbo cars are available in "GT"" GTS" "GTS-X" or "GTS-R". Your Passage is either a GT or GTS.
2. There are waaaaaaaay more than 6 passage GT's in the country! There are at least 3 in Hobart alone. And there are a lot more on the R31skylineclub boards.

ill post some pics of outside the car in a moment..

its down the shop now getting new 3" pipe, new cat & muffler..

YES, its an - R31 GT Passage...

new shocks from just jap put in the car round 3months ago...

i know there are more passages but not the 4 door versions, more of the 2 doors, & none with rb25det conversions running t4 & nitrous!

i built the website in like 1/2 hr, its only real rough!

Are R31s easy to do up? Easier than other cars?

roostn247
18-06-2004, 02:55 PM
I wouldn't say they're easier cars to do up than others..

Any car is able to be done up, it depends..

The R31 i got cause it is so different, not many around, & has lots of money thrown @ it....

All you can do to any car is engine mods, body kits, interior, exterior, stereo etc.

What kind of car you got?

LTR
18-06-2004, 04:01 PM
none, but im thinking id like an R31 skyline because they are nice and cheap. What mods would you suggest to make it sound awesome and add some power with $$$ in factor?

Theres a fair few RB25DET converted 4 door passages (granted possibly not with big turbos and nitrous). In fact there is no such thing as a 2 door Passage - thats a Skyline. Passage = 4 door pillarless HR31 OR import HR31 wagon, Skyline = 2 door HR31 (or aussie R31 sedan/wagon).

Should be cool to see some pics.
That engine bay looks mad though, actually theres a black HR31 coupe up in the north of the Tassie that looks identical in the engine bay to that one........Amazing....

LTR, if you are thinking Aussie R31, no they aren't all that cheap to modify, but they are a very good car. The import ones (coupe, hardtop 4 door) are a little cheaper to modify due to having a few different parts (mainly diff, front struts, brakes, turbo motor) which are more closely related to the later model skylines. For example, a brake upgrade on an aussie R31 requires new front struts and hubs (from an import - different caliper mounts for bigger calipers), rotors, calipers....Where on an import R31 you only need rotors and calipers. A diff upgrade on an import R31 is cheaper because parts are shared internally with silvias, R32 skylines - Aussie ones use a different axle assembly and its harder to find an LSD centre or different ratios.... Not to mention more power in the import is just a case of more boost - in the aussie one its internal engine mods or an engine conversion.

I have an Aussie R31 sedan, its a great car, more than quick enough on the road, reliable, and they are cheap - like $3500 for a decent one.

PM me if you want more info about R31's.

Just wondering roostn247, did you rip this guys pictures off or did they rip them off you? I know this car, its in Launceston Tas, its a 2 door GTS-X Skyline , and it most definitely does run nos and eveything else mentioned in the ebay ad-
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=45571&item=2480856 465&rd=1

If anyone checks out that ebay ad , you'll find the engine and interior pics identical to the ones roostn claims on his site to be his car.

Pics of your car so we can know who's lying?

dont do it alex, its the biggest trap of all!

Its my mums old car, she wants a VW Golf now... so itll be very cheap or free.

All im after is for it to sound good. I dont give a damn how it looks. What would you recommend to make it sound like a bit of a beast? An exhaust system?

Thanks

Alex

to do up a skline, get an exhaust , lower it, neons, ebay it then buy a monster truck, something like a mack truck then if people beat you racing you can squish their little pressure cookers

Change the header size and setup, add a nice exhaust tip and at this stage u've got yourself some nice sound and a little more power.
OR u could just make the exhaust straight through for sound.
Keep in mind not to go over 90decebels or the cops will defect u and take u to the nearest RTA inspection site.....

I'd go with a set of extractors backed by a new catalytic convertor and a 2.5" system, with a larger-than-standard-but-rather-discrete single tip (maybe a 2.5" one on a fairly high flow muffler). Fitting a pod-styke air filter would give that howling intake noise that sounds horn.... And get a manual, dammit! Look for a late 1988-89-90-91 GX model, for they are the lightest by a fair margin and were only available in a 5 speed manual.
One of those cannon mufflers with the big tip is like saying "come get me coppers!!".

If its an auto go for a 2.25" system with a quality cat and mufflers, 2.5" or bigger will be droney as fark..... And auto RB30E's sound like arse - just listen to all the VL homos on your local blockie route.

anyhoo back to the subject. My bro works for Unique Autosports in Castle Hill. They deal in Skylines and 300's especially. Might be able to pick up some good nic second hand japanese wheels like work, rays etc with real style. Just avoid the robo nob look-say no to chromies!
