Actually, with some of the larger starters pistols it would be possible to do at least some lasting brain/hearing damage from the sheer sonic shock and air movement, but yeah, thats ridiculous..

I've got a friend who owns a book from the CRC Press on Gunshot wounds. It covers the forensics and blast pattenrs, all sorts of good stuff. (If you're into that, he's a bit of a crazy dude).

Anyhoo, there was a guy in there who tried to blow his brains out, but it didn't work. He succeeded in blowing his face off his skull, and actually died 2 weeks later from the absis that was created when one of his teeth lodged in his brain.

Now that's gotta suck!!
