It is a Brooklyn Machine Works.

That must have been a prototype I guess as the bikes they are putting together now are very very sick. The gearing system they have is pretty interesting as well.

B.M.W. (the bike one) had to start somewhere to keep making crazy-sweeet gear like this -> http://go-ride.com/frames/brooklyn/2003/link_semi.jpg (http://go-ride.com/prod_frames_brooklyn.html)
Still looks CRAZY though.

i know its a brooklyn (prolly an earlier model, the new ones look a bit more refined) but the spec and colour and everything would make it the shiznit when gutter rolling (damn straight shaun)

Rik

I'd dread lifting that thing.
Imagine trying to maneuver it... fuck that, no bunnyhopping or anything, more like just point the bike where you want to go, and plough.

You have stumbled upon the MASTERPLAN

that was an old one off, the moto seat has advantages. you change the effective top tube length based on where you sit. further forwards for tighter sections.

Thats the biggest chunk of Point-n-shoot i have ever seen! I love it! That must be like a custom-one-off thing though. Just a TMX with a different seat mast. Still, youd want to be doing some crazy hucks to flat to be jutifying that thing, or just posuer to the bullshit and cruise around NYC on it.

it weighs 65 pounds from memory.

they corner it the same as a moto; steering with the hip. the traction was so good it ripped nobs off the tires.

BB is so high because it's made for plattekill which is supposedly covered in high logs and shit

You have stumbled upon the MASTERPLAN... that was an old one off.

their old website gave me the impression that it was a prototype that they made after the tmx to help refine their new bikes.

mmmmasterplan, the bike that rips chunks of the front tyre because you can just sit on the front end for maxamo cornering traction.

that drivetrain is interesting, with it not been direct like normal, it appears that a small chain goes up to a shaft through what you could be call a second crank then to the rear wheel from there, this would give an advantage of beeen able to have very exact gear ratios correct me if im wrong. I think its a good idea, but theres alot more to go wrong with it, but it also gives you additional clearance as there is no big chainring at the front, what do you guys think?
oh and those things look like american tanks, hugely over built, it would be interesting to compare them to big huckers bikes, like benders for example if anyones got pics.
oh and that blue one, nice bent forks :D

stupidest thing ever.

so you wouldnt buy a brooklyn bike?

roasted
20-06-2004, 07:36 PM
yeah they call it a jackshaft system.

the main thing is that it stops the chain from lengthening and shortening, keeping it on the bike better, and it pedals much better because it effectively removes pedal bob.

That's either the Masterplan or the Rubber Duckie, I'm not sure which. Either way, apparently it was the first bike on earth that wore front tyres out faster than rear tyres. The MTN-10 forks and 3" gazzies gave so much traction that it would literally tear knobs off the front tyre when you cornered hard (I do believe it was more than capable of doing the same to the rear as well!).

When I went to NYC I went to the BMW workshop and got to sit on a TMX-10, so plush it's crazy, the avalanche fork is amazing. The bike was heavy but nothing ridiculous. One of the guys showed me around (the place is tiny) and there are old prototypes all over the place. It was definitely the best thing I did in NY. A close second was singing a Rick Astley song in a Chinese karaoke bar.

I think protecon has one in his display pic doesnt he?
The bike in my avatar is acutally a Nicolai Nucleon.
Yes, BMW bikes look impressive (especially with S8's) however, as persons have already highlighted how this design would "suck" due to weight and bb height - it's probably more constructive to suggest ways to better the design rather than criticise it?
I believe pushi (http://www.pushi.com.au/video/braebrook.mp4) did a review of a homebased design and fabrication equal to this sort of design standard?
