Hmmmm, I never really thought about it, nor did I really care.
What ever gets me down the hill is fine.

Left, but moreso due to a dodgy knee than anything else.

Either, I have no real natural foot, Left, Right what ever is convenient; dependant in which pedal stroke I'm on- I cant say I think about it on the trail either too busy flowing :D

finally, i can put a long played argument to rest with one of my friends....which foot is the most common foward.
well done

i usually find that most people do put there left foot first. But then again, it all depends on how you started to ride - how you taught yourself. Its not just going over jumps and doing drops, even when you roll down a hill, whichever foot you prefur most will go infront.

left 4 me. ive been caught up on my right foot at the end of a drop and it just doesn't feel natural at all.

this thread has been done before, I don't know the link but anyway......

everyone who says it doens't matter which foot is full of shit, you naturally have a chocolate foot (thanks hans rey for that term).
mine is my left foot foward, you should be ablke to ride with your opposite foot, but you will always sit with a certain foot forward. ther would only be about 2 percent of riders at the most who could do both and feel jsut as comfotable, and have no real instinct to ride with a certain foot forward.

anyway.......

Ahh.. old bunny rabbit hans

Anyway an interesting topic!

I'm totally hardcore left handed, left footed (ie goofy), left eyed and tongued. But I put my right foot forward on the bike! (I also "dress" to the right).

So what do we think? Do you put your dominant foot to the back? Are all you people who say they are left foot forward "natural" for board riding?

This is really interesting. I had always assumed that as most people are righthanded they would be right footed and then that would be most peoples chocolate foot. Appears not to be the case.

I am right handed and my right foot is my chocolate foot.

My question is then, regarding what your chocolate foot is, what direction do you spin and sidehop?

What I mean is, I am far more comfortable spinning anti-clockwise. I pivot my rear to the right and pull my bars to the left. Therefore I sodehop to the left seeing as you pick up the front end first. I also wallride to the left.

So is all of this related to footedness?

I reckon it is for sure. I am more comforable turning right / clockwise. Do you put your left forward on your bike tho?

I'm thinking that the chocolate foot (the one you have forward) is the NON-dominant foot, ie you put your dominant foot at the BACK. dig?

Nope, always right foot forward, and I will surge or wheely drop with my left foot so I am set up to land right foot forward.

Hmm well there goes my theory.. Carlin are you goofy or natural on a board?

Carlin

Natural, but I haven't really spent much time on boards.

EDIT: Oops, is right foot forwards goofy on boards? If so then I am goofy. (shows how little i know about board riding  )

Natural, but I haven't really spent much time on boards.

Sure, I was just asking as its a good indcator of footedness.

well, with spinning, i find that (with me being left foot foward) that i can spin clockwise better, and i think its because i can use my right foot to push on the chainstay to help me spin... and when i try and do anti-clockwise spins, i can not get anywhere near as far...just a thought :P

I find that too but i also tried putting my right foot in front and i was able to spin anti-clockwise just as well as spinning clockwise with my left foot in front.

~~i use my Left to start the first pedal of wheelies and i find i cant do wheelies by using my right foot for the first pedal. I also use left for going off drops.
but i find turning right more natural and my right foot is in front when i do.
hmm....i guess i'm both then?...or perhaps left for some things and right for some, quite like my arms aswell :) ....i'm one of a kind :D

i use both hands to eat, no i dont pick up my food and slobber it everywhere, im comfortable with either hand, and i just found its the same with my riding i can use either, for some things i prefer one, like bunnyhops i like the left, but most things im happy to do on either foot it doesnt bother me, am i a freak or do other people do this?

i always naturally ride with my left foot forward and i've spent plebty of time riding boards and i can do a lot of things switch but i'm goofy(right foot forward).
