did u know that if you are a student you can get adobe photoshop at an academic price at like office works or somewhere like that and it onl costs like $250 for all of the adobe collection but you have to show them a student, or student school library card

Does anyone know if adobe still offer an upgrade from student version software to a commerial version? They used to but I cant find any priceing anywhere.

Is 250 just for photoshop or the whole suite? Last time I look for the price of the whole cs suite it was around $548 student version. When CS was first released it was around 799 student price for the suite. If it is now $250 student price for the suite it is a bargain.

im pretty sure it would be a PR disaster for a company like adobe or microsoft to crack down on one random person for using a pirated copy, not to mention that it would be a waste of time. unless you are distributing it hardcore u should be pretty safe. that said, its not the right thing to do... so aah DONT DO IT. :wink:

I've had photoshop 6 for a looong time, soon 8 when I get the ripped CD and I aint been caught.
I know many people using ripped Micro XP and nothing has happened!

I think with half the people who download programs like Adobe photoshop or Premiere, the fact is is that if they did actually HAVE to pay for it, they wouldn't be using it. They would simply use some inferior freeware or shareware program.
Im refferring to people like me here, who just stuff around with images and might use premier to make some home movies. Adobe is a professional tool, and I don't think ametuers just stuffing around with pirate copies is really an issue.
Just so you all know who you've confessed in front of, Luc (Acadian) works for Adobe...

Uhuh.... but it has never actually happened. Unless you're using it to make money for a commercial operation or you're selling pirated software at a swap meet or something you don't have anything to worry about.
And if you are worried or suffer from some kind of moral objection to contibuting to free advertising to the general public that piracy offers, then use GNU GIMP. For most people's purposes GIMP is just as good as Photoshop.
Believe me, Adobe *wants* a certain level of piracy! When people go into business they're going to purachase the software that they know, also it serves to reinforce things like Photoshop as industry standards. Its just the Shareware concept.

and the difference between photoshop and bikes is that you can make a new copy of photoshop for like 50c but i'd like to see you make a new bike for 50c.

But programs, if you can create a program. and dont want to "brun" a cd as such, you can make a program just the same as adobe, and re-name it. What difference is that?

my nextdoor neighbour got caught with adobe potshop from kazaa, and they sent him a letter. scared the absolute shit out of him, so he got rid of it and kazaa, and then went to officeworks, which is where he was recommended to go. there he got the discount, and there all the features intact, they wrok, and you get some extras!!!
