Somehow I have downloaded a virus-like program. Whenever I open up IE (homepage - Google), in the address bar it goes "http://searchweb2.com/searchthrough/index.html?/www.google.com" and then after a few seconds a little taskbar will open above my regular windows task bar and the address bar will say "www.google.com".

I've run CW Shredder, AVG Anti-virus etc...can't get rid of the bastard.

Also...I've noticed whenever I hit control+alt+delete I have a heap of different items showing up...stuff like "Qttask", "Sitefreedebug", "Wsup" and "Carpserv". There's a bunch of others, but you get the drift. Anything I should look out for that shouldn't be there?

qttask is the quicktime preloader, the rest look dodgey, end task them and see what happens

then if that fixes your problem find the files and rename them to something else so they don't get run again

rename them, or just delete them. Arrange the folders to when they have been most recently modified, look at them, then delete the ones you don't remember installing, or allow installing. I'v done that a few times, and has worked everytime.

Go Start --> Run --> an type Msconfig. Then go to the startup tab. It will have all those dodgy looking programs you mentioned, and the paths(folder address) where they are installed. Go investigate those folders and see wether they are legit or not. Thats what I do.

Sounds like spyware? Ad-aware would fix this? or am I incorrect?

yeh i had similar like problem,

just use the startup tools with spybot to uncheck the files from running at startup. and arrange your system folder so you can see recently installed and find out the dodgy files and delete them or just let em be long as you dont run them again.

Bwahaha. I had a similar problem, found the uninstall link, and it brought me to this page: (slight engrish)

If you don't want to continue using this page, follow instruction below:
1. Download uninstaller (right click and choose "Save target as.." from pulldown menu

2. Run it

3. Reboot your PC

4. Run it second time

5. Change your start page to "about:blank" in the IE settings (Tools -> Internet Options)

6. Click "Start" -> "Run" -> regedit

7. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\

8. Select key {FF1BF4C7-4E08-4A28-A43F-9D60A9F7A880} and delete it

Enjoy with your clear PC.. and stop looking for free porn - try to buy membership on a good paysite
