Michelin DH tubes are my favourite. Not as thick/heavy as Maxxis or anything else, and I've run them for a couple of years with a total of 0 flats of any kind.

Maxxis are the go and you can expect to pay 15-20 bucks for them. IRC are cheaper but harder to find and have a full metal valve.

I really like the IRC tubes. 10bucks each is cheaper then the rest & if u cut an old tube up, & rap it around your good tube you can say goodbye to pinch flats. (Most of the time anyway)

If you really want to put the laed in the pencil so to speak, go and buy some 23" Motorbike tubes. Yeah sure they are a little heavy but rust me you probably run them until the rubber perishes. I learnt this from Mtb Action mag so it s not always crap.

but how does a 23" tube fit a 26" rim? :?

Because a 26" rim isn't 26".

well, theres heavy speculation about that

noone really knows whether a 26" rim is actually 26 or 23 1/4 measured

or is it?

stretch the damn tube.

Not sure exactly, but 26" is the diameter of the outside of the tyre (roughly) - the rim would have to be about 4" less in diameter, at least.

Yeah, got me the first time. I actually bought some 26" inch MX tubes from the local tyre shop and the guy there thought that was odd, apparently 26" Motorcycle rims are almost non existent ( Maybe I should a clicked then ). Took them home and guess what-They were about 5 inches to big in dia for my rims. I fitted them up anyway to see and just folded them over to take up the slack, and they worked really good, couldn't feel any odd running even with the fold in there. Only problem occurred when i took a corner a bit to fast and rolled the tyre, allowing the folded area to emerge blowing the tyre clean off the rim. After this I went rummaging through my old $6000 dollar purchase price pile of mags and found the Mtb Action were I had read it originally all those years ago- Alas the article said 23" tubes, and had alittle bit of detail about the size differences etc. The moral of the story-If you remember something that sounded like a good idea, go and check out that something first and get your facts straight. Any way the MX tubes made good chainstay protectors.

Sorry to rant but I thought This may shed some light on the subject.
