or even easier answer his question.
26inch larger gaps.
20inch, cheaper parts, cheaper overall, easier to handle when starting, bit harder to pedal longer distances but ull get over it, what doesnt kill u only makes u stronger,
example of mod cheapness,
chris king hub for 26inch 700, hope bulb 500$
acs claws freewheel for a mod 40$
maintance wise mods are simpler no gears no fucken around
Mods also have the drama of having alot of specific parts. Munt your cranks, you need shorter mod cranks, whereas on a stock you can use any old mtb/road parts lying about. Your exacmple of King hub for a stock as being an expensive part is a somewhat flawed example, as you've taken the best of the best... you can always run something cheap like a Shimano silent clutch hub if you're on a budget.

Ride a couple and see which one you like best.
I started riding trials on a 26 inch bike, liked it a bit, but when I got my mod it was a HUGE improvement, I don't think I'll ever think about buying a 26" trials bike.

i got a mod 2 days ago and im in love with trials already...... had had a go on a few 26" before that and didnt really like tehm....... mods are easier to start off on and also you wont sack yourself on the top tube as often 8) (saying this my friend couldnt walk for 5 minutes yesterday because he landed on the top tube of my mod so hard)
