Yeah, i just got a pair myself. i am soo happy with them :D best thing i've ever spent my money on...besides buying a bike in the first place. i do a few jumps here and there and nothing has gone wrong. i'm only 16 but my bro is an adult and he has em also, and he doesn't have any problems. also in skate parks there a gem, nice and plush. and pullin a few drops here and there, its not the forks that are the problem with me....its my wheels  oh well as i said basically its the best thing i've put money into so surely, go ahead, there an awesome fork!:D :!: :!:

Cheers...Scott

the dukes r the perfect fork 4 any type of fr except drops, if u want t drop get phylos with 20mm tullio and ur dialed then but i have the 2004 rock shoc duke xc with u turn and the r sooo sweet, im now not happy coz ive gota sell my bike and i dont have any other fors to go with it in order to buy a new 05 dee lux. go 4 the dukes u wont regret it the r butterly plush. my friends ride z1, drop offs djers physlos and all but they are all austounded at the duke its awsume.

u will alos wan to note though that dukes will be discontinued in 2005 so if you wait till october time u may see sum sic prices poping up all ova the place on the dukes. the physlos are also being discontinued. if u ask any djer thatr uses dukes they will say there the best so get em now or l8a is up to u though they r perfect coz they r so light i can through the bike round perfectly in the air coz of em thats if u stick to lighter bike setup

GET EM :D

No.

Most people on here will tell you that Psylo's are no good for freeriding, seals blow and they're not stiff enough! That said, Duke's are for the bottom end of All Mountain riding, and for heavier XC riding, so using them for DJing could pose similar Psylo problems. Have a look at what most people who DJ ride on... i think u'll find that Marzocchi DJ's and Z.1's and Manitou Shermans are the most prevalent. Yes they cost more, but the seals are less likely to blow and the stanchions are larger for better strength and stiffness! However for park riding, if you do go ahead with Duke's, dial the fork down to it's shortest travel setting, and maybe add heavier springs!

That's my buck fiddy!

I run Dukes on my Felt XC and Marzochi DJ3's on my Chase for street and DJing. Both forks perform flawlessly at their given tasks. I wouldn't use dukes for street or jumping if I was paid too!

I have them on my Hoss and they make an excellent trail fork. Jumping and drops is absolutely out of the question on the forks unless you are a very light and smooth rider. Basically if you jump them and land badly i can see the crown snapping.

So in answer to your question, no they are not suitable.

I want to run them on my schwinn gsd mesa and some one has told me if i run the djIII they will crack my frame!

What is the make up of dukes? I was told (by a dickhead at a bad shop) that they are an all air shock, I don't know jack about shocks, is this true, do they still have a spring or that spongey stuff and no oil? What's the deal?

You were right about the dickhead bit! RS have had 2 types of Dukes. An Air sprung version, and a coil sprung version. The coil systems feature RS's U-Turn feature (which is external travel adustment for newbies). The top air model also has the Pure system which is an 'on the fly' lockout mech. Both air and coil models come with rebound cartridges so tell that 'boy' at the shop he's a tool.

That makes a bit more sense! Mine are RS Dukes SL. They have the rebound adjustor at the bottom and air valves at the top of both sides. That's the limit of my knowledge :P

This is the same dickhead that sold me a Felt XC to use as a freeride (street and bush) bike, replacing the BB and cranks 3, yes 3 times and a set of forks once telling me that it was my technique, not the bike I was using. Since I got the cannondale and used both bikes for their respective purposes I haven't had one major malfunction (1 stuffed seat from a stack that was my fault). It took a gromet on a city ride to fill me in on the difference between bikes and usages, I hate being a newb

Anyway back to topic, the DJ3s are an excellent fork for me. I've had stronger springs and oil put in them and now they have zero sag. I treat my bike pretty rough and my frame has lived up to the challenge quite well so far.

Fuggen rain.....

*1 The Dukes have had none of the problems that plauged the popular Psylo line, due to better lower leg design. They are much stiffer. Seals Blow... Clean your forks once in a while I never had any problems with seals on my Duke Race's. *2

Having said that, I wouldn't personally would use the Dukes for DJ/Street- but if you knock them around too much they're going to break eventually (like all forks)... If your light weight and/or don't case too much, you should get away with it. I'd go for Fox Vanilla R's or something more hardy- espesially since Marzocchi's reliability has been poor at best recently. *3

Edit *1: Apparently the Psylos seals were fucked, sorry.

Edit *2: Deleted part of the 1st parragraph as it was taken as something it wasn't intended to be (a flame).

Edit *3: This is based more so on experience of friends, and the word around, most of which had issues with cryofit crowns in 2003 Marzocchi forks. MOST Higher end Marzocchi forks dont seem to have this issue- Comes down to using the fork for it's intended use I suppose.

Are you saying my Duke Race's are low-end forks?... I think not!..
I think he meant "bottom end" as in "lightweight end of the All Mountain scale".

I never had any problems with seals on my Duke Race's or Psylo SL's, clearly some just dont look after their equipment.

Sorry to butt in here- but the seals were shot in the psylos you sold me ;)

As for Marzocchi's performance- The main problem is that low end forks being speced on dj frames. But I agree the old marzocchis seemed to be better- they were allot more expensive though! The first z1 was 1200 bucks.

For my money the SHERMAN gets the vote. These things rock. And to tell you the truth I prefer the non SPV models. TPC+ is soo smooth.

Thank you Rik! Unfortunately, I think a lot of people on Farkin have caught flame-itis, and the disease is spreading!

Well they were sitting unused for near 8 months, must have dryed up - I was actually going to put enduo seals in them, but I munted the fuck out of the main seals- on both my sets of forks trying to put them in. Still the Duke's seals have lasted 8 months w/o trouble- and they have been pretty badly abused :P

Sorry mate, there was abit of sarcasm intended there... Unfortunatly we cant see peoples' physical reactions/ facial expressions or even hear tone/context of the post on the computer. Was by no means intended as a flame.
*Will keep that in mind for future posts*
