His first stair gap (5-15) and right foot slipped off his pedals. He's riding a Da Bomb XLR8 with DNM Upside downs, and are they good forks or not? He thinks they are the ants pasnts but I think they are a cheapo copy of Shivers....

Hah!

He would have been packing his crap back in after that.

Doing stair gaps without a fullface is dumb.

The forks are ok, not the ants pants but.

And judging by the impact with the seat, he'd probably be nursing sore balls too

It slipped off after he landed yea? Not as bad as Dylan T on dropin doing the crankflip down the steps and missing the pedals. "I would prefer to be shot in the face".... hehehehhe

Bikepro were selling DNMs for $200 a while ago. That should give you an indication.

Being hardcore is great until you need a facial reconstruction.
I'll go on and on about it, I've seen 3 nasty crashes involving staircases, all 3 times the riders were wearing fullface helmets, and without their fullfaces, they would've been in a whole lot of trouble.
Urban hacking (ie, drops gaps), fullface is more than justified.
But for techy stuff, there's no real need.
You have to draw the line between the two, making a blanket statement doesn't help anyone.
