I'm very new to this site (which rocks! :P) and I usually like to introduce myself to people before i start offering opinions. I thought a section that enables new members to post a brief introduction, about themselves, their ride, their type of riding etc.
You can lock the replies and disable posting of pictures in order to save bandwith.

I just thought it might be a good idea.

Hey James,

Not a bad idea, but for now feel free to view and create a profile for yourself here...

Maybe have a "Hi, I'm new" thread in offtopic, where everyone can post, and also the general rules and guidelines can be glossed over too... just so people fit in, and also know what the drill is.

I will create a profile when i get home. Thanks for that squidly.

I thought of posting in off topic, but was unsure whether it was appropriate. In car forums that I am a member of, it is usually frowned upon to post intro threads in a normal forum. I might put a post in there anyway when i've read a bit more and know how things operate round here.

That way the newbies can go there and ask all them newbie questions like , " what does sports class mean " without some of the regulars bagging the crap out of them .

and welcome to farkin Larks

Hey that's a good idea. Have newby sticky thread. It could have links to all the guides to using Farkin - like posting photos, getting trade access etc. They can ask noob questions and it could also be a place to introduce yourself. A very good idea IMO.

Let's face it, alot of people don't take the time to read the rules or have a decent look for the different guides on posting photos etc. Having a sticky in General MTB or Off topic would give that information alot more exposure, and therefore less noobs starting noob threads etc. and generally more people will get the information.

I am dragging this thread up because I really do think it's a good idea.

A few people have introduced themselves lately and it's something I enjoy reading. The only other way I get to learn about people on farkin is "meet the farkers" which is a slow way to do things.

I can't remember how many people were members when I joined farkin (nearly 5 years ago), but I'm pretty sure it was under a hundred and we all had an idea who each other were. Now that the site has gone ballistic with membership, it would be nice to have an idea who all these new people were.:)
