What sort of riding are you going to be doing? and please don't say "freeride" unless you can define it.

Sorry that I didnt specify this earlier, Im mainly gonna be using this bike for XC/Freeride, just riding on local trails and a bike to get from A to B.

Mummy whats a freeride?
My sisters boyfriend has a hardrock, front end is very bouncy. It breaks easy too, he stacked twice and both times he's monged his deraileur, but maybe you'll get stronger bits on the pro.
It'd probably be a pretty good ride for what you want it for, but for $1500 I'd get a norco sasquatch. There was a shop doing a special on them for $1450 posting on this board a few days ago.
get a kona stuff/
there sick/.
there about 1500 i think and come with shimano disks and marzocchi exr forks. its got an awsome frame and the components on it are pretty good.
i havent ridden a hardrock but id definitely pick the stuff over it anyway.
even cheeper than the stuff is the kona scrap which has v's and slightly worse forks. i think thats around 1200 or something.
cheers

TC's Bike Barr have a Sasquatch..
I think they have a sale on as well, so it's around $1450..
[EDIT] I just noticed that you are in Victoria...
This store is in Brisbane.
Sandman, try and keep the shamless pugs to a minimum thanks.

The thing is, he wanted to know where he could get one, so I told him. That is hardly a 'shameless plug' if they are the only store with one. It is quite simply helping out. If it is interpreted as being a plug for the store, then good on them for stocking them.
Creepyjoe said 'There was a shop doing a special on them for ~$1500 posting on this board a few days ago.'
Now, if he had have said the name of the store that was selling it, I'm guessing that you would have ranted on, saying that it was another of those 'shameless plugs.'
Now, to reiterate my point, aren't these forums about helping other people and being part of the 'Mountain Biking Community'?
<sarcasm>Well I'm so sorry about trying to help someone out then.</sarcasm>
You may say, fair enough then, but after you realised that he was in Victoria, perhaps you should have deleted the post.
Once again, other people may be wanting to buy a Sasquatch, so I just helped them out didn't I?
yes these forums are for helping other mountain bikers, but this one dosen't want to be associated with anykind of advertising, use the PM function if you want to suggest specific bike shops to someone. i hope you can appricate the way we are trying to run a totaly unbiased website here.
if one shops gets mentioned that means it would only be fair for all shops to get free advertising, and a shop spamming free for all is not what anyone here wants.

Ok then, point taken.

I reckon it's pretty fair to mention particular shops and deals as long as it's not spam from a shop owner or worker or whatever - especially in the case of Norco's since a lot of their 03 range is sold out Australia wide with no more coming in. I'm not trying to shit-stir or anything, but that's how I see it. Advertising is one thing, but pointing out good deals or bikes that are hard to get is another.

The only reason I didn't mention the name is because I didn't remember it and I couldn't find the post in the for sale section anymore (deleted?)
If I happen to see a good deal and let someone else know about it who it seems would benefit from it then am I shamelessly plugging too? However I can appreciate that shop owners spamming their deals constantly across the forums would be a bad thing.
Although he is in victoria, there maybe a postal option.

He said he wants something for general trailriding, a Stuff might be a bit of overkill. I'd recommend (I know I seem really biased to these bikes at the moment) Haro Escape 8.2: Zocchi EXR's, Avid disks (just ask socket how good these are), and a reasonably duarble parts pick, without being too heavy.
Your point is noted Sandman bassmonkey and creepyjoe, particularly as the Sasquatch is a hard bike to find right now.
Just for the record, TC's Bike Barr were in fact spamming the forums with commercial deals a few weeks ago, which is why we're jumping on the specific shop plugs right now.
