doing bmx style jumps

Okay well there are some pretty decent size bmx jumps near my house i was just wondering if anyone who has done vert kickers to vert landing (bmx style jumps) have any hints on how to approach them.

Ride at them at let the bike go the way it wants up the take off, once ur in the air get the bike level and the front end down for the landing if there is another jump right after just stay loose and let the bike move under you, thats what i do and it seems to work but theres heeps of things u can do, ill leave that to some other guys..

I guess you just gotta be loose and let the bike do its thing and then learn to really tuck the front into the landing.

On take off let the bike get kicked by the jump and try to level it out when you're in the air. Then when you've spotted the landing, try and roll your wrists forward to land the front tire first.

The nose dive style landing feels weird at first but once you've got it nailed it's such a cool feeling to really pump the jumps.

Also the transitions on BMX jumps are a fair bit tighter than ones built for MTB's so everything happens faster. Also since the landing are tighter too, you gotta tuck into them really quick otherwise you over jump into the start of the next jump and that's not cool.

well i own a bmx and well i sopose im used to it, but if i ride my friends mtb i jump them the same, i dont see the difference on jumping them on a mtb or a bmx exept the mtb is smoother.

but every 1's differnet i sopose. gl on the jumps :)

i doubt it bout the vert down ramps but just dont tense when your gonna hit a vert upramp otherwise u will flip :? just go wit the flow 8)

well i mean the top of the landing is vert, of course its not all vert mate.

yeah basically mate, if there are a few in a row, dont go for huge w00tcore air off the first one coz u will lose all ya speed, just take the lip in a bit, jeep the front lowish, then as soon as ya get over the landing push the font down and pull the back up, kinda doing an endo without brakes while rolling along, just in the air above a jump, coming into the net him just pump stay loose, basically though practice is the jey, maybe learn to bail first and just learn from mistakes, without seeing you jump i would say not too many people can tell you what and what not to do. Its just personal preference, if your having specific troubles post em up, it will make it easier to understand and give advice that actually has a chance of working.

its a heep harder to jump bmx jumps on a mtb i ride both but im better at bmx i go to penrith djs a bit but havent done the big ones on me mtb they b nuts ther big kicker to vert landing ther so fast on a bmx theyd b so quik i get through em in bout 7 secs over 3 jumps on a bmx and i went to hazelbrook a while ago and they say ther mtb jumps man thers some fukin big jumps out and they are vert so try stikin to something smaller 1st :shock:

hey what penrith jumps you talkin bout? anyways redpill mate, i been jumpin for ages and thats the style that works for me, i find that progression is always a lot harder if you dont try new shit, so i figure he should just go for it and discover what works for him, therfore dont whinge about me trying jumps cause i would anyday of the week and i wont have to whinge about crap such as attempting to keep the forums nice to stop shitfights

matt shutup, no one will be able to find them even if charlie does give the location, charlie, punch matt. and if your gonna case, stick your back wheel down, cause otherwise you'll front wheel case and face plant into the rock hard ground, or bail.
