i dont know about the hardrocks but i would say save at least a grand and have a look at the mongoose range of hardtail dirt jumpers. you can get one with half decent forks (marz mx) and cable discs for like 900 bucks or something and the frames are fairly bloody strong. either that or save even more money and get a kona stuff or a norco freeride hardtail. its way cheaper buying quality first up than buying shit and upgrading all the time.

the hardrock sport is ok for a while if you get the right frame size i have one and love it with new forks. the 15 inch frame is the best frame for dj and urban but the forks will need upgrading pretty soon

yeah the frames are bloody strong, fork upgrades would be needed after a while. but they are good bike to start off on and jump.

For around that price range (if memory serves me correctly 859 ish?) you could possibly look at the STP2. The difference in price is not that great and it comes much better spec'd.
