Followed a mate in to the take-off ramp and chucked in a few more pedal strokes because his Rockshox sprung comp is a set up a bit more 'poppy' off jumps than my 5th... was gaining on him by the time he left the ramp so i thought all would be ok. BANG - flip over the bars after doing the classic dig bashguard into the top and back wheel hitting the backside of the downramp.
Trusty E13 bashguard made a decent dent in the log on top of the downramp, but only had a tiny scuff mark to show for it. Not the same story for my back rim however.

lol yes lotec i was taking those factors into consideration, we weigh about the same and my IH is a bit heavier than his comp.... i chucked in those few more pedalstrokes on the run-in for all of those reasons.. haha i just didnt want to get away too much from the initial point of my post - come up short on gap = taco'd rim :P

The gap is about 6m long, from the take-off ramp to the water in creek below is a bit under 3m i think.
