Hey ive been a long user of the two and i have rediscoverd it on my rampage :wink:
iv pretty much raped the bike in it so it doesnt get scrached :P iv also put some on my helmet and i was thinkin of puttin it on my shoes :P
but yeah ducketd tape wont heart the bike will it ? does it poses n e other amazing uses? and whats the differnce between ducketd n gaffa tape?

Duct tape is like big electrical tape. Gaffa tape is cloth-backed and you can tear it easily with your hands. It shouldnt hurt your bike, but it might make a hell of a mess if you take it off. Show us some pics!

Gaffa tape rocks... very sticky, very strong. Duct tape is only good for sticking to itself.

where my chain is > like to protect it i got a pice of carboard ( some junk mail) and warped that around the frame then coverd it in gaffa tape :)
its working so far but i dont wanna get it wet :S

Sacrifice one of your pinch flatted DH tubes as well. I got a lizard skin for the chainstay (had to cut it a bit to fit), but now I'm using Maxxis DH tubes for more protection around the place. A handy assortment of zip ties along the way and you're all sorted. Couple all that in with the gaffa tape and you've got it made.
BTW, there are a few kinds of gaffa take as well. You can get cloth tape (harder to tear) or the original Gaffa Tape, which is actually easier to tear. Quite a price difference too. Can be expensive shite!

They're fucking cool, ive got one here. Biggest point is it takes a damm lot of tape, prob 2 rolls, thats the reason why i've only got 2 card pockets. Fluoro green tape is like 7$ a roll or something and there's not that much on there :?

i WRAP the bit of my chainstay near the BB with elactrical tape for when i get chainsuck. just rips a bit of the tape off when i get chainsuck, which is easily replaced.

I beg to differ, I find Duct tape alot stickier, but it has less reinforcement. Gaffa tape isn't that sticky, but is stronger and more reinforced, for stuff where you REALLY should be using a bolt or something.
I find electrical tape the best for alot of things.

Hahah i had duct tape(cloth backed shiiat) around my cranks to stop em getin scratched by shuttle trailers. I was in the workshop cleaning down my bike, and i was cleaning off the chainring with brake cleaner, as you do. The cleaner stripped the sticky shit off the tape and it formed a liquid and went all over my hands. Not even the industrial cleaner in the bathroop of a professional workshop could get that shit off.
lesson learned: never spray duct tape with brake cleaner.

On a valuable note though, Electrical tape and or Gaffa tape is a good inclusion for your trailside toolkit. (along with cable ties).
another thing to note is duct tape contains traces of metal, meaning if you try and tape drugs to you body it'll set off the metal detector at the airport, also it'll carry current to, so don't use it in high voltage situations thinking it's just sticky big electrical tape.

Its not new but:
Gaffa tape is like the force, it has a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together.
I work in theatre, everything gets fixed, held down, patched, waterproofed and generally covered in gaff.
see like i learn math, litriture, gramma, phyics and other stuff. :P what more could u ask for??

iv got a vid of it on my mates camera.. he was asleep so we wrapped him up, to his bead... he woke up and thought it was kinky..... and hes got another one of my mate with his hand taped to his head, while trying to get his hood off, on a train... people look at you funny.... we also did it to a kid at school, by taping him to a tree, and lighting a small fire under his feet...(which he stomped out, if only we thought of that) then left him there for 70mins.. but there all on mates cameras, so i dont have th pics... sorry to dissapoint.
