Used to skate, been off the deck for about 2 years now. Bad knees and too many little wankers put an end to that past time. My deck's still undwr the bed though, so maybe one day if the feeling grabs me I'll pull it out again.
Good sport, shame it was raped by marketers and little ratbag posers, around here they managed to all but ruin it for the rest of us.

One of the first inline skating slurs ive had chucked at me, I only skated for hockey or if i ever went to the rink, the expensive hockey wheels get thoroghly rooted on streets.

Umm Yes.
Rough history
Rollerskated: 1982 - 1993
Rollerbladed: 1992 - 1994
SkateBoarded: 1985ish(Little skinny plastic deck) - Dad snapped it moving furniture. He never bought me a new one
New Skatey: 1994 - It snapped, I never bought a new one.
I currently have one out the back but I dont use it much. Its good to have it there.

i used to skate and i was alright. but i got bored of it cas it wasnt fast enough.
I skated for about 10 years. Mainly vert. We had an assortment of ramps in our backyard over the years and spent many weekends and holidays touring the country to different ramps. (this was years before every suburb had a skatepark) I think the early skate scene was very similar to the scene we have in DH/Freeride now.......scarier still is it seems to be mirroring it in the way it's all going urban and street.....just like skating did!
Oh and just for the record...... I stopped skateboarding because I was sick of getting hurt. Then I took up downhilling.........DOH!

same here.
Skating is where it all started for me. about 10years ago...
it definately made my balls much bigger (or maybe that was puberty) any way, i was always on the lookout for big gaps or rails or big sets of stairs or any combination of the above. I was getting really good untill i folded my foot back to my calf (that really farked up my potential skating career!)
Now i ride bikes and am still on the lookout for big gaps and cool shit to ride. i'm still amazed by what some of the pro skaters can get a skateboard to do *cue rodney mullen video*

i stoped skating when i fell off at high speed and hurt myself.... i used to love the long boards!!! :P
-but yeah too many lil punters... like today i got told to "get out of the bowl(skate park) with my bike because they wernt made for bikes." bloody punters...
haha skating, i can get on one and severly hurt myself, does that count?
im absolutly uncoordinated off da bike, and even more so going sidways (skate, snoboard, wake board, etc), but can handle going forward(bike, skiin, n shite)
In-line for about 5 years (stopped about 7 years ago) including speed skating and hockey. Was the oldest team member and my job was to fall down in front of the opposition (in both speed and hockey). I did it well!

Skated from 1999 - 2003. Then I used my skater as a pallette to practice my stencil art and havn't taken it out since - not to mention my deck lost its pop years ago.
Used to skate with matt johnston [farking goooood!!!] but when school ended he got better and I lost interest.
Trick list:
Ollie, ollie-indy, kickflip, heelflip, fakie-flip, fakie heelflip, varial flips, shuvit-flips, fakie shuvit-flips, nollie, boardslide, 50-50, five o's, [used to be able] k-grind.
Fav trick:
Fakie varial flip and kickflip to nose manual [not very often did I land it, but fuck it was good when I did].
</skate memories>
I also skated for a few years, & still skate at Maroubra bowl every now & again. I stopped because all of my friends slowly got out of it & I was riding more & more. Also I got hurt a lot more skating (ankles, wrists, shins). I was just starting to get into vert when I stopped but i really enjoy it even though it is the scariest aspect of skateboarding. Nothing compares to a nice frontside grind on a vert ramp or bowl. I used to skate Bondi mini ramp while it was alive & as soon as Bondi skatepark is up & running I will be riding there with my deck in my backpack.
Street skating is fun but everywhere good is capped. The Skateboarding 'scene' is also very 'cliquey' (sp?) like the vert riders wouldn't talk to the city skaters, the tech heads wouldn't be seen with big gap crew etc, it gets a bit frustrating. Then along came the pissdrunx/baker crew & although it got a lot of grommies listening to good music (punk not gangsta rap) it also made think they could act like little spoilt turds.
