First DH race, or first race in general? Have you ridden the Ourimbah track before?
I'll most probably be in. Havent been there for a while now.

Will definately be there for the downhill. Haven't ridden there before, whats the track like ?
Also just checked the website and it says Downhill practise for club race 12pm and then race at 2pm ?? Is this still happening ?? and is there shuttles provided on the day, or is it a hike back up to the top ?

no shuttle but its a big ride back up to the top but u can normaly scab a lift from some 1
The top half of the track is a peddle-fest but after the fireroad it becomes pretty nice. Practice officially starts at 12, but they don't usually mind you practicing earlier, you just have to watch out for the XC riders in the morning.

what tracks the race on is it the one with the road gap or the normal one with the pallet jump
dont quote me on this - but i'm pretty sure that its on the pallet jump track, have been no club races on the road gap track i can remember this year....

Racing is always a great atmosphere, it doesn't matter if you're not the fastest or haven't got the shiniest rig. Hell, there was a kid up there last time on a department store hardtail with a set of Hookworms.
If anyone's reading this thread and thinking about coming up for the first time, DO ITTTT!
It's the most fun you'll have on your bike.
Anyone heading up on Saturday? I wouldn't mind a few practice runs. Happy to chip in for petrol/food/beer...

yeah rich, the drive up is fairly easy, i get up there fine in my car and thats on 18's.
some parts are a bit rough, but most of it is ok
plus they usually have a shuttle on race day

that was an awesome track.. Love all the drops and jumps put into the track, very nice...
Made 1 mistake on my first run at the bottom just before the palette I kept going straight and drifted into the log after realizing that the track went right :roll:
Secondly up the top went off to the left at one point, but luckily it joined the single track again, after a battle through sticks and trees hahah
How did everyone else go ??
does anyone know how a guy on a white balfa bb7 with gold shivers went, if he was even there, and does anyone know his name on farkin?
yeah the balfa was there but i dont know how he went.
not so sure if he still has the shivers though...maybe some trading took place? or i could be thinking of someone different.

the track was mad...heaps rutted out though...and itz a bit sketchy when u get in the wrong rut! 8) sucks the pallot jump has gone! cause that was mad as...now the track is a bit boring! itz heaps fun...it just needs some jump or something in it! :P
i (jono) got: 3.49 mins in DH and came 3rd i think. and in XC i got like 57mins and came 1st!!! so i was pretty happy!

my first race a bloddy dnf , got 2 flat rear flats in pratice ,didnt make the start , but the 2 runs i had where good , track wasnt to bad , i was on a hardtail but .Next race :)
yeah (to stp)...i have a feeling he traded forks with a mate of mine after the race, you'll have to ask him though.
broke the deraileur in 1st race run, did it in the rocky section after you drop on onto the fireroad and cross it about 2/3 way down...
more $$$ down the tube!

i had a good run, it was just a bit slower than i wanted(4.09 :x )
i nailed the top section, but then died in the arse on the pedley bits so its back to the gym for me!
as for the pallet jump at the top, it was getting a bit shitty, so it was taken out for the race. I think it will be getting rebuilt soon

i have a few mates that ride it on a hard tail with no probs.
I cant compare it to thredbo though cause i havn't ridden it :wink:, so this prob dosn't help you............ just give it a go :D
