there were no results. they are pulling names out of a hat as we speak im sure.
Well I know I got a podium in Masters as there was only three of us!
I think the timing was very ordinary to say the least. I think anyone who raced will agree.
Super fun course though and transport seemed to go OK.

DNF.
I seriously considered pushing on but the flat wheel was a borrowed one (DHDs) so I stopped. Trashing my own stuff is OK, trashing other people's is not.

The results read out at the end of the race had two errors. Sport was read out as Goff, Hamilton, McIntosh should have been Hamilton, Goff, Rowey. Masters 1&2 was read out as Middelton, Chance, Reeve should have been Middelton, Reeve, Rowell. These error were due to reading the first three riders from the computer and not checking the times, these categories had not been sorted.

No prizes or prize money?
jesus christ, deal with it. we are but a small club, we had to hire buses, we usually dont have races that big and you want prizes?
jesus.

Corc is Australia's biggest club :?
they have races THAT big as often as any other club....apart from thredbo
they didnt even organise sponsors for the event, most prizes at races are donated by sponsors anyway not paid for by the club

I agree could have been run better
But thanx to the people that did run it, cause i'd rather ride in a unorganised race, than sit on my ass at home. :)

Yeah it could have been run better but lets not start pointing fingers.
Firstly, it was not just a CORC run event, some of the confusion came from the fact that it (the timing) was not run in the way CORC usually do it.
Shit happens and timing gear failures cause a lot of havoc
Secondly, if you weren't helping, you've got no right to bitch.
Third, we never have prizes and it's never a problem. If beating your mates is not reward enough, you're in the wrong game.
If the people running the race read this, good on ya for getting in there and having a shot. No matter how pear shaped things may get, we appreciate your efforts.

we may be a small club, but it was a NSW state round and at state rounds there are prizes or money, they should have had it organised because they new it was coming, fair euf we are a small club but still, they should have got some sort of prizes'.

Great fun, great track great event, same dumb asses slagging off the volunteers again. I got a podium finish but I was not there to win $10 - racing is what it's about.
Note: anyone can help out at an event - before, during or after.
Also: I'd assume that it would be hard to orgainse a race at the coast when the club is based in Canberra.
And: Prize money usually goes to the same group of people each time - the best in the category. So I'm assuming that it's a small group of fast riders who want the money. Or are you a Elite rider who was riding in the Sport class so you could $$$ in? That's been done before.

firstly, i would help but i was riding, and i'm sure there would be plenty of blokes who would be willing to help aswell. so don't point the finger at me.
secondly, i don't think i can remember a state race that hasn't had prizes or prize money before. this race i was really trying to get a podium cause i've never had one at state level. it would have been great to get 3rd, 2nd or 1st, but a prize always tops it off. and it's state round for fuks sake.
thirdly, like i said in my post previous, once again steve had to bring wsmtb's timing gear, once agian steve was left running around organisin shit that should have already been done.
and wat was with the random number plates, draw one from the box.

no mate i race in u19's, witha whole bunch of young riders with a whole lotta talent. and i hate sandbaggers, it's unethical.

Mate, I wasn't pointing the finger at you or anybody specific.
All I'm saying is the sport is run by volunteers so lets all get off their cases.
I assume Steve is the dude in the blue overalls who was starting us? If so I thanked him for his efforts while waiting for my start.
As for prizes, if they float your boat good luck to you. Personally I don't care.
How many potential sponsors did you call for prizes?
Shaun
23-09-2004, 11:31 AM
maybe i'm getting a bit too amped up. yes steve was the guy in the blue overalls and i appreciate the volunteers help, but why would i need to call potential sponsors for prizes? i wasn't the one organising the event. i was just pissed off that there was no prizes cause it may have been my first podium finish and i would have been a bit disappointed, but then i would have thought " oh well, atleast i got 3rd " so i'm not a selfish mofo who only wants money, and i'm sure that there was alot of others who were pretty pissed off.

i appreciate the volunteers efforts on the weekend a lot, but they said that corc was trying to save money so there were no prizes and it was still $60 which is only ten dollars off normal price of other races, which have up to 250 dollars prize money for the winners....i dont see how they justified that..where has all the money gone apart from transport etc..

Part of it went on $1500 (!) for the medical dude. St John's didn't want to play so they had to use a significantly more expensive source. Add $3000 (I think) for transport and it starts to add up pretty quick.
130 riders * $60 = $7800
Take away $4500 above = $3300.
then you've probably gotta pay state forests, insurance etc etc.
I doubt they made much.
Actually I'm pretty sure they lost money by running the event......I also know the guys who were running it would much rather be doing runs than spending their weekend working

firstly, i would help but i was riding
I think that quote says it all. Riding and helping are obviously mutually exclusive events. You just can't ride and help out these days hey? Oh, what's that? I both rode and helped out? Now how did I achieve that feat?
