I can't believe this album has been out 10 years, where the hell did that time go? I'll never forget seeing him play live, what a night.

Did you ever hear his old man sing? Wow... uncanny similarities between their lives, voices and deaths.

Check out KD Lang's version of Hallelujah too.

Then go and download a couple of tracks, and learn of the magic of Jeff... he goes two ways basically... heavy and hard or amazingly soft and beautiful, with on of the most amazing voices ever heard. This was his debut album, he died during the making of his second album.

His father Tim was also an incredible singer.

Pfft, age has nothing to do with it, Buckley is brillant with a capital "B" for "brillant".....and "Buckley"....... :?
Although I will admit that I don't particularly like his original rendition of Hallelujah, something about the way he sings it gets to me a little; I do know a young bloke that does the most incredible accoustic solo version though. Trivia: Did you know that the lyrics actually contain the arrangement for the music?

Oh, and does anyone know the name of the "new" song that's been getting some airplay? Is it on the re-release of the album?

OT- Any Elliot Smith fans around?

I am sure to incur the wrath of many on this site, believe me I get it from my friends, but I really don't like Jeff Buckley. I own the album. I thought i had better buy it & listen to it to see what all the fuss is about. Some songs are good but I cannot see why he achieved such god-like status in such a short time.

Possibly a case for the 'more popular in death than in life' file?

Tim Buckley on the other hand is awesome.

I think i feel it getting hot already :)

edit: I am an Elliott Smith fan, & I have much respect for the way he killed himself. That would have taken serious balls.

I was the same way myself when my brother used to play the album around the house.... but he dragged me to one of his gigs in Sydney... seeing him live really turned it around for me.

The new single is "Forget Her"

I agree, he's ok, but definately not the legend for me! But I do also respect him for playing HIS music, not that of corporate pop/rock!

How did Elliot top himself? I think it was with a knife or something wasn't it?

Anyway, Nick Cave!

He stabbed himself in the chest!!!

I thought they re-opened the case on the premise that new evidence popped up about his girlfriend having something to do with it?

I am not a huge fan but i admit the bloke had an amazing voice :) .

Music is just too depressing really.
Funny thing the other week i was at a pub in Newtown talking with a girl i know, we happened to talking about the friends we had that commited suicide. Jeff came on midway in the convo and stuffed us both up.

not being one to criticise before experiencing *cough* I downloaded some of his music and yeah its actually pretty good. You can also find some pretty awesome punk covers from NOFX and New Found Glory.
