but seriously wtf makes a person jump so many stairs?

Same thing that makes bikers jump off cliffs, backflip in the air, fly through the bush for 24 hours at a time or hurtle around a velodrome at 60+kph...

It's called urban freeflow, or also 'le parkour'

You can find more info about it here. (http://www.urbanfreeflow.com/)

Don't go calling things stupid or shit just because you don't know what mgiht be going on in the photo. Some of the things those guys and girls do is amazing.

Oh and stp stop the postwhoring allready, :P.

I think you'll find he's wearing inline skates ('fruit boots' if you want). If so doing that, while still pretty ballsy, isn't actually that unusual.

Hmmm, well if they are inlines then I guess it is not that unusal to find them jumping stuff too. The brightness around the shoes/skates makes it hard to tell though.

It reminds me of that shit they where doing in those old nike ads. With the dudes jumping down the buildings and running away from the chickens. It looks so sweet.

dude how did you think that a guy could possibly make that gap by running at it? thats fucking huge gap, and a lot of speed...

Ouch!! That must of hurt when he landed. Did he brake his ankle's??

Firstly, the guy is on inline skates. To those people who think he's doing it with normal shoes, you need to take a closer look at the photo, and maybe think about what's happening in this shot.

Secondly, it's been done before, as seen in a small video of a guy on skates, who got a tow-in from a car, who did a 12-12 step gap, clearing the whole thing, while doing a 180, landing switch, clean. There's a link to that video in the Phat Vids section, if I remember correctly.

Thirdly, mtbmx... just because somebody's pushing the limits in a sport you don't do, for you to call it stupid... that makes you look like a moron. But oooooh... when Darren Berrecloth or somebody else does a 40ft+ drop on a bike, that's "cool" to you, isn't it?

Seriously... it helps to think outside your little bubble of existance.

The fact you think Berrecloth is the best all-around rider, and you didn't even know who John Tomac was, ruins most of your cred anyway. (It also paints you as a little kid who started riding 1-2 years ago...)

A mate of mine that blades tells me that that guy on the video 540'd a similar gap. those guys are nuts!

When I've been out stair gapping. Members of the public walk by and say "Your an idiot" and sometimes we just have a laugh but one time, this guy fully went on "you guys are f**king idiots doing this. You're going to get yourselves killed." etc etc. So I think that we do some pretty what you like to call "stupid sh1t" on our pushies.

i downloaded a fruit booter movie and a guy 180s like a 3 metter high stair set and stacks but he does it on the ledege next to the stairs so he dosn't do the hole length of them but the height if thatmakes sense.

Not really.

I think he means that gapping off a 3 meter ledge would be easier than gapping stairs which is long with a height of 3 meters.
:?

but can u imagine going off that ledge straight down on blades ?
i know we've had the phsyics discussion before but i still reckon it would be easier (yet still freakin hard) when going fast.

There's a v good chance that he lands on the last (5?) stairs to soften the landing and rolls them (stair ride).

Possibly, although the teensy wheels make that much less effective than on a pushy. From the little bit of skating I did in High School I can say that the amount of shock you can absorb on blades is pretty surprising, by ducking and rolling one foot out in front of the other your getting atleast a foot of 'travel'.

i just have one thing to say NO on another note you couldn't role down stairs at the speed hes goin or of how low the frame is you would flip.

progression.

that would explain that picture.
