id look at a 05 stinky or atomik...but they are both more of a freeride-oriented bike..not much u can get in terms of DH bikes for 2-3k but the stinky or atomik are good starters
.....or mayb have a look at some of those sweet new ironhorse bikes

Why do you need their address? You do relise that they're not going to have a display showroom don't you!
and check the 'for sale' area for christ sake. There's many a IH in there...

05 IH Yakuze Ojiki looks the goods at 2.5k. The frame is similar to a bullit, it has a 1.5" head tube for long travel single-crown forks (well only manitous ATM). Still no word on how good the forks and rear shock are, but they should be at least as good as the stuff they're putting on a Stinky. I'd be looking in that direction and upgrading bits when you can afford it. The frame looks brilliant with 7" of travel.

If you can save up and afford 3.5k, then the IH Yakuza Kumichi looks awesome as an entry level DH rig. It even has a floating rear brake and a 5th element 3-way rear shock. The bike is specifically designed for DH, so should really behave itself on a DH track. Jury is still out on the fork though.

what do you think the IH aniki will be like? Im planning on getting one. I can only really afford a 2 grand bike but i might abe able to go a lil over. I wanna use it for begginer dh and freeride. What do u think? Any help would be nice!

cheers, benny.

Oh and lifecycles in penrith are planning on getting the new IH range in.

how about a hardtail, if you are only starting then it is definately the best way to go because a) they aer cheaper and b) you will actually learn how to ride a bike, rather than just pointing it down the hill and going

Check this post of mine, sounds like we are after exactly the same thing, and i might have found it :

http://www.farkin.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22273

Very similar in all aspects to the Ironhorse Ojiki, same rear shock, almost exact same frame, same seatpost/ brakes etc...... but it has better forks, the stance flows which are very similar to the blunts except they are adjustable. However the one above has a truvative 2 ring/ bashguard setup and front deuralliur whill the ironhorse has a e13 chainguide. Depends on you riding style but I would prob switch to a chain guide.

sweet brand new bike, similar suspension design to a bullit, good specs (amazing for price) and only $2099, $400 dollars less than the Ironhorse Ojiki, im heaps keen for it might be what you after,

Hope it helps

If you are after a dh bike buy one! A freeride rig is no where as good as a DH bike for its specific purpose.

Giants 05 comp is a killer buy and if you can stretch to $3000 for a second hand bike why not get a brand new one for $3800 (hell deal going on a St Ives Cycles at the mo). This thing has a killer spec for the dough and nothing can touch it for the money.
