Round #1 of 5 of the "King" SUMMER series will be held on 24th October at Nerina (Ballarat). Check

www.clubmud.com.au

for exact details for race day. Most likely running 3 tracks per race, depending on heat and numbers, tracks will change through the series to keep it interesting. There is one brand new track that I personally spent around 80 hrs on...think single track, jump, berm, berm, berm, berm, road jump, hip/wall ride, double, single track, triple, single track, berm, step up, berm, step down, rocks and finish.....

ADDED 18/10:
Tracks to be run for the first round will be:
Robbies: with the road jump, step down, crater jump combo.
MOOREYS NEW: (yet to be named/numbered)
'TRACK X': Runs past rego and cars.
Of course this only helps if you have raced or been there before, but I think most of you planning to come are repeat offenders

Clubmud site will have directions and contacts, or email/call me on 0408820237.

Track will be open on Saturday after lunch for unofficial practice/social riding. THIS IS UNOFFICIAL, WILL NOT BE CATERED AND WILL NOT HAVE FIRST AID. IT WILL BE BUNTED IN THE MORNING, SO NO RIDING UNTIL AFTER LUNCH. After that, knock yourself out...LITERALLY. Tracks are also open 24/7 other times. There are rides every weekend, so turn up any time to practice or check out the tracks...EXCEPT SATURDAY 23RD IN THE MORNING.

Sunday morning if official practice until around 11am, then racing. It is a 5 race series, so the more you enter, the better your final result.

For first timers, it is a multi race track format with combined track times. There will be race classes for all levels, but not the 17 classes used at state and national... Most likely womens, novice, sport and expert (subject to confirmation)

FULL FACE AND ARMOUR RECOMMENDED, there are some gnarly lines, but options around each.

See you out there before and on race day, I am definitely out there this weekend tweaking tracks and riding if you want to join in.

Ride on,

Moorey

PS, buy my Rocky..

Nice ute Moorey, Old skool 'luxes rock...Hmm big bonnet scoop, got a V8 in there?

Indeed I do...but the scoop is now gone. I took it for a highway spin first day, it started wobbling at high speed and then tore the screws out of the fibreglass, sending it flying over the roof. Luckily it was a dummy....no hole in the bonnet. I'm gunna secretly put it onto Dawes pulsar on a midnight mission one day.
Gotta get me another F100, I had a disagreement with a falcon not giving way on the Midland highway a couple of months ago. Love da Hilux, but adore the Effies. The one in my 'signature' could roost 60+ metres with the 351 and the 35" mud tires

Haha, yeah I'm a big F-truck fan myself... One of my dad's mates in Ballarat has a two tone grey longbed 4x2 , 351 clevo on gas + 4speed , sunraysias+ duellers, tuff truck... Yeah it chucks a mean roost too.
I already downloaded that video a while ago...good stuff - I especially like where you fill in the patrol, lol...

Petri's revenge was to dump his dog in a mud patch and lock him in the Effie.......Mmmmmmm, messy....

Haha, gold!

Back on topic (briefly), sounds like the track you've built will rock - its times like this I wish I still lived in Ballarat, but then I look at mount wellington behind Hobart...Good riding here, its just that racing is pretty rare down here (but becoming more frequent). I'll have to scope out Nerrina next time I come back to visit the folks.

what type of lift mods have you done to that? It looks good. What i want to do to my 4Runner. What size tyres are those? How does it travel at speeds?

Was like that when I got it, running 33 BFG's, but may go up to 35" if I keep it. She is all leaf springs, don't know how much lift exactly, but I think at least 9"

The map on ClubMUD seems to have vanished, happy to give directions to anyone, call or email if the following doesn't hake sense:
From Melbourne, come into Ballarat as the built up area starts (first lights), there is a school on left (Ballarat East SC), Turn right towards Daylesford (Water St). Under bridge and 50 m further, turn left into Scott Pde. Follow 1-1.5km to roundabout with oval on right, turn right (Stawell St). Head about 1km (through r'bout) and turn left into Lofven St. Follow under the freeway overpass, all the way until the road turns into Monte St and ends at the Little Bendigo PS. Park and walk 300m up the fire trail. From there you are on your own, there are many tracks, most race tracks start at the same point, up the fire road, turn right and aim for the highest point (150m)
C U there

Correction to Moorey's post (I think)
Turn RIGHT from Stawell street into Lofven street, not left...left would send you in the completely wrong direction wouldn't it?

The world MTB orienteering champs is running near and around Nerina and our tracks this weekend. So many of the dudes are spun out at the road jumps and stepdowns. Anyone out there this w'end can show off for the camera's, eg the tour de france roadjump fame...

In response to some Q's on cost of racing:
MTBA member $25, non MTBA $35 ($10 extra for day license)
Cheap as chips, even if no shuttling is provided, but hey, the tracks are very short to walk up.
