has any one been to nz lately, because the amount of places to ride is awesome, there is a jump park in every town, city, etc. There are dh tracks every where comps most w/ends. Its crazy. Queenstown is definately the best. No wonder the Kona Clump team went there.

Im from wellington myself....
The city is surrounded by hills, and there are tracks galore on all of them.
when i left 18 months ago, people had just started getting into the whole north shore thing, creating wooden obsticals, drops etc.

Was over there a month or so ago. Even at Queenstown, in their botanical garden (i.e. right in the city), there were some trails with some awesome, at largish jumps, running through the trees. Made me wish I had my bike there....

Hey does neone no wat month in 2006 the worlds are on??
Farkin Road Trip! :)
Or plane trip...
i was in NZ a couple of weeks ago, mostly around q/town. the amount of natural terrain is unreal, there is hardly any trees on the mountains so you could start at the top and work your way down the most gnarly terrain. Also at q/town there is so much of every thing! pubs, clubs, bungys, rafting, heli skiing, you name it - THAT PLACE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if there are any websites floating around with information on NZ riding holidays? Or even just info from your own trips?
I got a cheap flight -$300 for return air fair and 7 days car hire!!
Landed in christchurch, found a backpackers hostel, got pissed.
Drove down to Queenstown, found a backpackers hostel, Got REALLY PISSED!!! did that for a week, drove back to Christchurch, got on the plane....
Simple if you want to stay in backpackers as opposed to booking hotels, hotels suck.
Most backpacker hostels cost about $25 a night...cheap, and they ussually give you deals like stay 3 nights and get your 4th night free etc...
Get over there mate, it rocks!!!!!!!!! Also, make sure you do the nevis highwire bungy - biggest in new zealand - most crazy shit i've ever done

I just got back from NZ tonight, I was on a school ski trip. We skii'd (sp?), black water rafted, white water rafted, jet boated, pavement luged (sp?) (DH go karting). The program was called ski fever.
Although I didn't get a chance to ride I can say that the place rocks. The scenery is great and the people are mostly pleasant. Oh yeah and there are heaps of sweet import cars, guns, big ass mountains and other cool stuff you dont see much of in Australia.

Farkin Road Trip! :)
im sure if someone enquired, we could maybe get a group discount holiday package together. cheap flights, cheap hire car/coach rental, cheap accomodation, and of course great riding farkin style...

The rotorua champs r in febuary i think, there is lots of cheap accomodation in queenstown. Also dont fly air nz because they charge u a arm and a leg for taking ur bike into queenstown because the planes are so small, fly qantas or pacific blue!

the cars in queenstown are nothing!!!
wellington or auckland on a friday/saturday night will blow your mind
every 2nd car driving though town is a wanked up import.

They are all jap pocket rockets - huge WANKER factor, i was appalled at their extreme lack of taste and extreme amount of 'i know how to make a 200sx look like a barbie and ken wedding car'
The shittest import scene....
they should spend their money on real cars.

watch wat u say about cars in nz.... very touchy subject.. seeing as most of our population are b or g racers
rhyno - my mate hooked it all up, there was a deal on the radio... dont really know who it was through but i flew on virgin (pacific blue). They still have cheap flights, like $360 return....
crash_dummy_661 - what do you mean b and g racers???

That would be nothing short of hilarious

AWWWW MAAAAATE Fully Sic wheels aye?
AWWWW MAAAAATE Fully Sic wheels aye?
um..... no. not fully sic. fully shit
you want info on where to ride in NZ?
go to www.vorb.org.nz sign up to their forums and ask questions, its THE biggest mtb site in NZ and was recently the number 10 visited sports site in NZ or something like that.
anyhow,
the 2006 worlds in rotorua are in august from what i can remember, check out www.2006rotoruamtb.com for info.
on the weekend 26th/27th of feburary the NZ one of champs are on in rotorua on the track that will be used for the worlds and there will be a 4x race on the 4x track thats going to be used for the worlds.
apart from that theres a fuck load of riding,
queenstown has the "dream track" which was built specifically for kona guys, its pretty sick aparently. they also have a wicked dirt jump park.
christchurch has downhill track area that you shuttle up a public road, its sick, lots of tracks, access 24/7
Nelson(where im from) has about 4 separate hills with DH tracks, one of those hills has about 6 tracks on it.
thats just the south island so far.
now the north
wellington has hills all around and they all have tracks on them, hell they have a hill thats specifically for mtb tracks!
rotorua has a heap of mtb trails in the redwoods forest which are damn cool.
auckland has a full mtb park in a forest which has all sorts of stuff from mellow xc to north shore ramps.
these are just a few main spots and basically every town has trails. so check out vorb.org.nz for even more info
