Howdy,

I am just wondering if there are any downhill tracks in the Airlie Beach / Proserpine area in Queensland.
I dont need specific locations posted, just wondering if the DH rig would be a worthy item to have with me.

Any bike shops in those towns?

Thanks for any help.

Hi mate i'm from prossy / airlie but doing uni in townsville. There aren't any dh track to speak of, had intentions to build one when i was home on hols but being the only person it never got off the ground. The only tracks i know of that you can ride are the national parks tracks (i know you arn't allowed to do it) but there are a lot of them around but they are mostly more like xc tracks although some of them wouldn't be to bad for dh.
There is a bloke out at sugarloaf who has a quad bike track that if he gave you permission you could ride down that its pretty sweet, dunno if he'd let ya ride it or not? other than that i haven't found any. Do you live in the area or just passing through?

Bummer, thats not what I wanted to hear. I may be up that way for a while.

Thanks for the info thrower78, Do you think there would be any good spots to build a short track, or is everything illegal?

There are a lot of hills in the area not to sure on how much of it is national park? I'm sure you would be able to get a small one up somewhere. I know out near where i live (Conway beach) there are hills everywhere and some of them are national park, i guess you'd have to check with the parks office just outside airlie to see where would be possible to build a track. Because i have been in townsville for the last 4 years i haven't been checking out possible sites for tracks recently. I'll check with my bro he is still at home and some of his mates were thinking about trying to build some tracks, not to sure if they did or not? Will let ya know if i find out anything.

Hey mate, sorry for the delay in this reply. I've just been flat out at uni. Got on to my bro and the track that his mates were building got canned cuz they were building where they wern't allowed got caught and so on. But they said they have been checking out some hills that arn't national park. Don't know where they are at the moment, will probably find out when home on hols.

Do you live in Airlie / Proserpine area or you planning to move there?

Anyway got to go many assignments to do.

Planning to move up there in the next couple of months.
Dead keen to find somewhere to ride so thanks heaps for the info, maybe we could hook up when I'm up there, I am more than happy to swing a shovel.

Cheers man, I'll stay in touch via PM.

Hey Thrower,

I have completed the move north, I tried to send you a PM but you haven't switched that function on yet.

I have the Bike, gear, enthusiasm, and dual cab. All I need is somewhere to ride, and someone to do some shuttles with.
