What's your preference, reasonable weight, or boat anchor?
D521 would be my pick, can't go past it for something that isn't going to weigh you down... otherwise the Sun Mag30 or MTX is a great choice.
Might want to make sure it's a good strong wheel build, as that's where alot of the strength comes from.

best performance for what?

and Im not surprised about the atomlabs. heard all sorts of reports about them splitting at the seams. (OS people, not from this site)

have a search for the rim roundup that was done on here a while back.
There was plenty of info on loads of different rims in there, it may just be what you're after

nah, like Rik said...a lot of the strength comes from a proper build. Besides, the trailpimps are 36mm wide and 32mm tall... They'll hold up good. :D (with a good build that is...)

Mag 30's. Had mine built up over 7 months ago, don't even need to be teno'ed/trued yet. Strong as buggery hoop.

imo 721's or 729's built on a SS hub with double butted spokes,
mainl SS hub because they can have no wheel dish giving equal tension side to side.

im running MTX and then have done me well through a fair few harsh landings and casings. some people however have had issue with them being soft in the side walls.

i have looked closesly at mine and if you spin the wheel and genlty hold ur finger against the sidewall i could feel one spot which was a tiny bit deformed, not visible to the eye unless in very good light, but you could feel/see a slight buldge.

all of that said, they have heald up really well in general and at this point i would buy them again and recomend them. istink will disagree here as a mate of ours killed them very quickly.

I use mag 30"s with dabomb hubs on my hardtail and I use WTB dual duty with Saint hubs on my downhill bike. I find that both wheel sets are ultra strong and quite resilient to any side ways pressure. Also I only have to tension the spokes every month or so. :)

wateva rim u choose no doubt it will be fairly strong but make sure whoever builds it does a good job, i beleive this can be the deciding factor

Mavic Deemax tubeless rims at $1300 are the best rim. They are light and used by all the pro dirt jumpers. I have done a lot off hard drops and they are not buckled yet. Tubeless is ten times more reliable on long distance off road riding like Oaks/St Helenas fire trail.

if you have the $$ (or is that $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$?) then the deemaxes are about as good as you can get. plus, they are yellow... or were, anyway. you can probably get a good deal on the yellow ones as they are getting old...

aaaaaanyway, i have a 521 rear which is stiff as all hell and a rhyno lite front which isnt quite so stiff but light (or lite?) on my DJ bike and it works awesomely. yer, my 2c
