View Full Version : Today is "have a crack at the entire world" day. On farkin anyway.
Omit the fenceposts.
So here's some random assaults on people in general:
- Being a musician (no, you're not an "artist", everyone knows "art" is painting and maybe sculpture) does not make you an expert on politics. Nor do you as a musician, make any "statement" about anything. It doesn't help that it's hard to make out the actual words of the song most of the time. If you don't have a clue (which most appear not to), kindly STFU. Have your opinions, just don't try and shove them down the throat of everyone else via strangling cats/music.
- Slapstick humour is not funny if you're over 10 years old. If it is, you should seek counselling and/or shoot yourself. This includes people falling over in real life.
- Why do Australian singers (especially ones who are outspoken against America's actions of late, eg John Butler Trio) always sing in American accents?
- You're not suffering that badly if you can afford to buy a CD for yourself. This means you, Linkin Park/Slipknot fans. I'm sure your emotional trauma will be cured by some lamearse clichè, as long as somebody famous says it.
- You're not an authority on everyone else, and what is right/wrong. Truth? Don't even get me started. Britney Spears: "can you handle mine [my truth]?" What, like "I'm going to be a virgin until I get married"?
- Australians pat ourselves on the back far too much. How are we "oh so generous" for donating $100 million (or whatever it was) to the "tsunami appeal"? That's like 5 bucks per person. Wow, that must have dropped our standard of living through the freakin floor, and all for someone else's benefit. How kind we are! Not to mention how we're "so great" at sports... as long as they happen to be one of the three sports that Australians are actually any good at (cricket, swimming, mountain biking). Has it slipped our attention that we're the second fattest nation in the world (thanks partially to me) and generally extremely unfit?
- People are not heroes for fighting diseases and/or struggling to save their own life. That's just instinct. What's the alternative? Lay down and die? How many people are gonna go "oh no, I've got a highly curable form of cancer! I'm screwed!" *cough delta goodrem cough*
- Michael Moore could be taken so much more seriously if he actually backed off a bit. Smart guy, lots of good ideas, let down by a flying fuckload of over-zeal and stereotyping of the "opposition".
- Please don't tell me what's best for me. I'll make up my own mind, and simply banning me from doing something, or physically obstructing my way is just going to piss me off rather than make me agree with you. Got that Mr Bracks?
- Apparently it's impossible to do something unusual/off the beaten track and describe it as anything but "challenging" or "an experience" or "a challenging experience". Especially reality TV shows. Which are misnamed simply because they're not based on reality at all. They're totally artificial - who the hell is going to be locked in a house for 3 months in real life? More to the point, who actually CARES what someone else does in a house for 3 months?
- Virtual reality has recently been superceded by an even more realistic perceptive phenomena. Experts have labeled it "actual reality".
- Organised religion has the major flaw that in asking people to behave selflessly in order to go to heaven/paradise/a 73-stacker bed with 72 pre-arranged virgins, you've now bypassed the whole point of selflessness. Everyone's now doing it to get into heaven.
- The population is too big. Why it's being encouraged to increase, I have no idea. There is only so much space/resources on the planet, you can't keep spreading it out thinner and thinner.
- There seems to be lots of people out there with good intentions. Nearly everyone actually. The next step is to form those good intentions into good ideas. This is, IME, rarely the most direct action to be taken! Save the forests? Great. Now try and build a house or some furniture. Oh woops, no more wood. Hmm, that'll make it slightly trickier. Oh and don't kill any cows either. Wouldn't want to be able to upholster your furniture or wear half-decent shoes or anything.
- Want to be different? Openly admit that you want to be the same. Everyone will shit themselves and as a group, tell you not to be a sheep. Note that the irony will be lost on many people.
- Abstract art isn't art. Anyone can throw shit at the wall, it doesn't "express" anything except how shit you really are as far as hand-eye coordination goes.
- Yes, you're an "individual". No shit. Unless you're a siamese twin... in which case you're (mathematically approximated to be) unique anyway. If you feel the need to "express your individuality", I think you need to work out whether adding hair dye/makeup/piercings has been done before.
- "One less car" stickers (which I see all the freakin time) are simply arrogant, falsely self-righteous slogans which conveniently overlook the fact that you could have removed a car AND a bike from the road by car-pooling. For the record, I don't even own a car (or anything with a motor). Stop being such a wanker, defer your oh-so-productive arts/music degree, and go get a degree in renewable energy or whatever. Heaven forbid you actually do anything other than protest or act like you're saving the planet (which you're not by the way).
- No, I don't want fries with that. If I did, I would have asked.
- Clogging up the streets doesn't make me sympathetic to your cause. This means you, Critical Mass debaters, as well as various others.
- Campaign against inflation and quality of education if you're so annoyed by HECS fee increases. Also ignore the fact that you don't have to pay anything now, or any time until you start earning over $25k a year.
- Wearing glasses and dying your hair black doesn't make you any smarter.
Global warming is looking better than ever. I hope a few of us (by which I mean, a few of "you") die off pretty soon.
little thing to mention here, John Butler was born in america, and moved here in his teens.

Yes it does!! I'm so super smart. :D ;)
Nerdy point - it's actually been statistically proven that those who wear glasses have a higher average IQ.
Yeah I agree with most of that S. Skankin who told you to write that? You obviously can't think for yourself. RCOH get of the fence and make some valid points or make a tape of yourself talking and go sit in a closet with it. Is this Art?
Some of my points were valid I thought. Which ones do you think were not?
I guess it is beside the point, because it is S. posting & he is just looking for an argument anyway.
RE sitting in closet recording my voice, it would be art if I said it was!!!:D

**bad day at work huh?**
S. i can agree with about at least half ur rant. esp the way australians hold themselves in high regard. its probly more our culture that allows us to do it, and the media blowing all this aid and care bullshit well out of proportion, not mentioning the other ppls donations around the world at all.
hell, just this morning i picked up the manly daily and read about some little kind donating like $2 pocket money or sumthing and making it onto the front page. im sure shes not the only one who did that at her age but her parents obviously thought her special enough to dob her in for front page news!
that is clearly a very australian bunch of parents because thats what australians do. now im not saying ALL asutralians do that but there are a lot more out there proportionally that think that way than in other countries.
and skankin_pirate, australia is not all about eating mcdonalds or greasy burgers, i seriously dont give a sh*t if were fat or not. i think what S. is trying to point out with that is that were just as fat and ugly, if not more than the rest of the world so we should just STFU about all this good stuff we do and just do it. be modest and dont waste valuable news time.
...."and here we have an AUSTRALIAN aid worker , who just saved the lives of 12 orphaned children, how do you feel?
well i was just doing my duty you know, and i appreciate the assistance of the indonesians who managed to save 120 orphaned children but regardless of that i think the AUSTRALIANS are doing an amazing job....."
[/BULLSHIT]
i know its not true but you get the idea
im not trying to have a go at the ppl who do save lives, amny do this every day, and i respect them very much. i just think we need to change our attitude about all this stuff. human generosity is not just found in one country alone, and thats all im saying
P.S good job S. some nice whingeing bullshit which wont help anybody. i hope you feel much better now, i know i do :D
Where did the Argumentator go?

With this whole tsunami apeal, the ammount of money donated is inversely proportional to the ammount of publicity. Some kid gives his pocket money of 30c and is called a hero. I give a hundred bucks of my own cash. Meh. This just shows that their best intrests are not that of the tsunami victims, but making people feel good about how good humanity is, and how they can sell a few extra newspapers by putting a few extra feel good storys on the front.
However, i do take my hat off to the companies, inderviduals and corperations who's donations have been in the 6 and 7 figure numbers.
**bad day at work huh?**No, I am bored though :) . I just though that S. post was overwhelmingly negative & a bit too jaded, so I wanted to offer alternatives.
hell, just this morning i picked up the manly daily and read about some little kind donating like $2 pocket money or sumthing and making it onto the front page. im sure shes not the only one who did that at her age but her parents obviously thought her special enough to dob her in for front page news!
Would you rather read that some little kid got raped & left for dead in Manly? What do you mean dob her in, she did nothing wrong. Unless her parents are the editors of the paper then they would have no say in where the story got placed, & it is more likely that a local jounalist heard about this kid & approached the parents.
we should just STFU about all this good stuff we do and just do it. be modest and dont waste valuable news time.
Hardly any stories of true altruism appear in the News, except at maybe christmas time or when a major disaster happens. If it really angers you to hear good news then maybe you should see someone. Otherwise change the channel/put the paper down.

There is a school of thought, that sees this reporting of altruism, or donations as VERY important. Not necessarily saying "Here's Joe Bloggs, who donated his own companies $10,000". That could be a wanker just getting his head in there.
What reporting the donations etc, is important for, is ENCOURAGING others to do the same. The person maybe does not want to have their name up, but let it be known what was done/donated.
It is not that someone gets their name up that matters, but that others know that someone has cared to whatever extent.

14-01-2005, 10:56 AM
sorry RCOH, i was adressing S. with the bad day at work thing, i didnt mean to think that u had a bad day. my bad :(
buuut
Do you think other countries aren't reporting in a similar fashion?
other countries which i have been to i have never really witnessed, to such an extent, the type of reporting that we encounter here. i really think that many of us do not realise how much it actually does happen in australia.
i just think the world will soon percieve us to be a bit arrogant, if we keep going on the way we are. i think lleyton hewitt's a real dumbass for doing what he does every time he wins a point, and thats why i dont watch any of his games any more. hes just an extreme version of what many australians do naturally.
now, regarding what i like to see on tv, all im saying is that id rather them show something different on the news, not necessarily the kid being raped etc. but you would have to agree, that if they had not spent all that time talking australians up in the news, rather broadcasting the tsunami damage and devastation, that they probably would have inflicted MORE sympathy in the hearts of australians.
the only reason the news is doing this is because if they compliment us on their efforts, well keep coming back to watch ourselves get complimented.
**just noticed**
This just shows that their best intrests are not that of the tsunami victims, but making people feel good about how good humanity is, and how they can sell a few extra newspapers by putting a few extra feel good storys on the front.
what Rom said there is entirely true:D
the idea that reporting that people have donated lots of money etc. helps is right, but to say an entire nation has done extremely well in donating makes me feel IMO like, "oh well, weve done enough now, so i wont donate any more"
natoinal pride is not something which we should exploit and milk to such an extent, i think that it should be adressed in moderation, part of the reason i think we do it is because we feel somewhat mistreated and overshadowed by other nations. get over it. we are. it doesnt mean we have to carry on like little kicking screaming got-you-by-the-balls ferrets about everything everybody else does wrong and what we do right. and thats all im saying.
P.S i agreee with a lot of what RCOH had to say in his previous posts, im just being a bitch

i think you missed the point. somebody giving the only 30c they have is much more meaningful then a huge company giving a drop in their ocean of wealth.

Fair enough, I haven't actually been to any other countries so I can't comment on their new coverage, but I just assumed that each country would focus on their own rather than others.
As for National Pride, I do believe it is a cultural thing. Because of our shady convict past I think we try to do well at everything & when we do acheive international success it is a kind of 'Fuck You' to the rest of of the world, especially UK & commonwealth. Also because we are such a small (population not area), isolated country it probably boosts our national ego to beat larger countries, especially at their own games.
BTW Ley-Ley is a little bitch, but he kicks ass (arse) at Tennis & I hope he wins the australian open!!

yeah thats definetly true, i think ur right, this kinda stuff does really help us perform better, and its something i have really overlooked. the end justifies the means :D and id have to agree that as a nation we seem to be doing pretty well (poulation wise) compared to others, even if we over-exite ourselves in the process :p

Omit the fenceposts.
So here's some random assaults on people in general:

Nor do you as a musician, make any "statement" about anything. It doesn't help that it's hard to make out the actual words of the song most of the time. If you don't have a clue (which most appear not to), kindly STFU. Have your opinions, just don't try and shove them down the throat of everyone else via strangling cats/music.
And this is why we let artists define art, not engineer geeks.
- Slapstick humour is not funny if you're over 10 years old. If it is, you should seek counselling and/or shoot yourself. This includes people falling over in real life.
Depends who's falling down...
- Why do Australian singers (especially ones who are outspoken against America's actions of late, eg John Butler Trio) always sing in American accents?
Musicians are doing better than our actors at sounding true blue ocker.
- You're not suffering that badly if you can afford to buy a CD for yourself. This means you, Linkin Park/Slipknot fans. I'm sure your emotional trauma will be cured by some lamearse clichè, as long as somebody famous says it.
Maybe they had to steal the money from their rich, oppressing parents to buy the CD? Anyway, teenage hormones do funny things to kids. At least they're dressing in black rather than stealing your car.
- You're not an authority on everyone else, and what is right/wrong. Truth? Don't even get me started. Britney Spears: "can you handle mine [my truth]?" What, like "I'm going to be a virgin until I get married"?
Well it just proves that pretending to be self righteous sells records to screaming 12 year old girls with protective parents. And anyway wasn't it Justin Timberlake? In my books that doesn't count as sleeping with a male.
But living vicariously through a person who can swim good or throw a little red ball really fast is an Australian tradition.
- People are not heroes for fighting diseases and/or struggling to save their own life. That's just instinct. What's the alternative? Lay down and die? How many people are gonna go "oh no, I've got a highly curable form of cancer! I'm screwed!" *cough delta goodrem cough*
So you take chemotherapy for fun do you?
- Michael Moore could be taken so much more seriously if he actually backed off a bit. Smart guy, lots of good ideas, let down by a flying fuckload of over-zeal and stereotyping of the "opposition".
At least he goes a little way to balancing out the joke that is the conservative mainstream media. He never was perfect, but it's better than all the other crap out there.
- Please don't tell me what's best for me. I'll make up my own mind, and simply banning me from doing something, or physically obstructing my way is just going to piss me off rather than make me agree with you. Got that Mr Bracks?
Unfortunately most of the population appears to be too stupid to know what's best for them. Not that I agree with Bracks...
If it was going to make you insanely wealthy, would you do it too? Though "extreme toothpaste is taking it a little too far...
- Virtual reality has recently been superceded by an even more realistic perceptive phenomena. Experts have labeled it "actual reality".
Now you're sounding like comic book guy... I reserve my right to avoid reality for as long as possible.
- Organised religion has the major flaw that in asking people to behave selflessly in order to go to heaven/paradise/a 73-stacker bed with 72 pre-arranged virgins, you've now bypassed the whole point of selflessness. Everyone's now doing it to get into heaven.
I agree. Scary.
- The population is too big. Why it's being encouraged to increase, I have no idea. There is only so much space/resources on the planet, you can't keep spreading it out thinner and thinner.
But it's the economy. And economists are exempt from practicality and the rest of reality.
There are substitutes for wood and leather. I don't eat meat, not cause I give a damn about the hurting of cows but cuase the beef and sheep farming industries are doing their best to screw the hell out of the majority of our country. I'm doing ok for skinny, pale veggo bitch.
- Want to be different? Openly admit that you want to be the same. Everyone will shit themselves and as a group, tell you not to be a sheep. Note that the irony will be lost on many people.
Or just do stuff you like and don't worry about what people think.
- Abstract art isn't art. Anyone can throw shit at the wall, it doesn't "express" anything except how shit you really are as far as hand-eye coordination goes.
Yet again why we get artists to define art and not engineers.
- Yes, you're an "individual". No shit. Unless you're a siamese twin... in which case you're (mathematically approximated to be) unique anyway. If you feel the need to "express your individuality", I think you need to work out whether adding hair dye/makeup/piercings has been done before.
Chances are, anything one does has probably been done before. So what, does that mean no one can ever do it again? Alice Cooper did makeup before Gene Simmons, Gene Simmons gets laid more.
Cause renewable enrgy would involve maths you can't do with your fingers, and looking like a geek instead of a neo hippy retard.
- No, I don't want fries with that. If I did, I would have asked.
That's what you get for eating at Maccas.
- Clogging up the streets doesn't make me sympathetic to your cause. This means you, Critical Mass debaters, as well as various others.
But it sure helps you to feel self righetous.
- Campaign against inflation and quality of education if you're so annoyed by HECS fee increases. Also ignore the fact that you don't have to pay anything now, or any time until you start earning over $25k a year.
Or study in NZ and pay 1/3 the fees.
- Wearing glasses and dying your hair black doesn't make you any smarter.
No but looking emo gets me laid more.
I've enjoyed my time as devil's advocate, and wasted plenty of my and everyone who bothers to read this's time.
I read maybe the first 5 points of that and then got bored of it. The great thing about this day and age is its ok to not give a crap about what you think.

Wow S. you've got a whole lot of opinions...
so what?
I so wish I'd said that :)
Arete, just so you know, I was joking about the music/art thing. Eh, not so much the abstract art one tho... ;)
RCOH, yeah it's good that a few guys (why did they have to be hiphop?! argh it could have sounded so good) are actually singing in Aussie accents. Gyroscope do it (kinda), and there's some other band who I don't know the name of (that song "... and I don't remember when I've (n?)ever had so much fun") as well. Not man of the "big names" though. Oh and teen angst usually (not always) comes from not being willing to actually have a look at how trivial a lot of stuff is. Kind of like the stuff I'm whingeing about! :)
And no, you're not a hero for saving yourself. I've got no doubt it's often hard, stressful, blah blah to fight cancer. Doesn't make you a hero, you're only doing it to save your own life. Brave? Maybe (depending what it is, IMO). But there's no heroics, none at all. The closest thing to it IMO is that guy who cut off his own arm to get out from under a rock. Still can't get over how fucking tough that guy must be.
Michael Moore is a smart, very well educated fella. He knows his shit, and he could blow almost anyone he attacks out of the water with REAL arguments (although he's always heaping shit on the conservative media for being biased/lying, then using it as a source of info)... however people (myself included) see stuff like the "how to talk to your conservative brother in-law" chapter in "dude, where's my country" and it's just (his) idealism ad nauseaum. Yeah, right-wing means "only concerned with one's money and the flagellation of homosexuals". Surely he can do better.

Well, some I agree with and some I think is crap. Sure, alot of modern art seems like bullshit to me but without knowing the intent and the point the artist was making it's hard to pass judgement. What *is* crap is art theory academics with squat all idea what the artist had in mind writing hundreds of pages of what *they* believe was being said, from *their* viewpoint.
"Arrogant art wankers" I think the term is...
Certainly many muso's are making no more "statement" than:
"Thanks for your money."
(or, "my manager thanks you for your money even though I'll actually see stuff all of it")
The other pearler was on the topic of HECS.
Did you know that for the amount spent giving tak breaks to the top end of town prior to the last election our beloved Mr Howard (neither right or honourable) could have totally abolished all up front and HECS fees and made university totally free?
(of course this would mean that kids who went to the right school and who's daddy owned a porsche couldn't get a discount for paying at the start of the year and might encourage some of the plebs to try and rise above their social stratum. Keep the poor dumb and you can buy their votes and exploit them with greater ease and all that)
Aww, whatever. I can't be stuffed with politics, I've been dealing with power struggles and petty crap at work.
Johnny! Save us! (that's the Farkin Johhny, not the Howard Johnny, he's going to condemn us not save us)
(but don't worry, even once we do finally realise that he's a dishonest sod we'll be paying half a mil + per year in pension for him)
that song "... and I don't remember when I've (n?)ever had so much fun") as well.

University used to be free anyway (or so I'm told, I haven't looked that up).
What shits me a LOT more than the hecs fee increases (which I can deal with since I might die before I have to pay them off, HAH then I'll be ahead!) is that they decreased hecs places to 50% instead of 75%, thus doubling the number of people who are able to buy their way in. That is really not fair at all.
What I disagree with is the notion that the whole government (here, there and everywhere) is specifically out to help the rich people and screw everyone else. Why would they bother?
I so wish I'd said that :)
It would have been slightly hypocritical coming from you though ;)

RCOH, yeah it's good that a few guys (why did they have to be hiphop?! argh it could have sounded so good) are actually singing in Aussie accents. Gyroscope do it (kinda), and there's some other band who I don't know the name of (that song "... and I don't remember when I've (n?)ever had so much fun") as well. Not man of the "big names" though.

You obviously have no idea what abstract art actually is then.
Note: the stuff that the bald guy on that home renovation show does IS NOT abstract art; yes, he throws paint and walls and stuff, that does not make it art.

It's good that you know what I know so thoroughly that you can recite it back to me.
little thing to mention here, John Butler was born in america, and moved here in his teens.
contiune.
He moved here when he was 11. From my extremely limited knowledge of him I would say he is mid twenties or up.
I know people that have moved to Aus from the States for only four years and have close to no accent (you can only hear a clue of a previous accent on some words).

I don't remember him saying that.

And this is why we let artists define art, not engineer geeks.
And thank goodness we have you to define who defines art:rolleyes:
I think art defines itself. It's up to the audience to make judgements, which are only valid to themselves. The more people who think something is good, the higher the likelyhood you will find it good. But can be as complex as any maths, its all in the people trying to make and understand it.
Deciding on people who can define art just seems to me to be completely the opposite to art.

agreeing with S on pretty much all of his points here. especially the point about how more and more people are turning into sheep yet not admitting it when the plain evidence is presented to them. really, who can listen to the radio these days with all the shite that they have on there. merrick and rosso, don't get me started. they have to be the unfunniest pair of commedians i've ever had the misfortune to hear. how could anyone like them? and songs like that stupid "let's get retarded" song, need i say more? hands up if you liked it? yeah, me neither. (notice i say liked, cause people that did like it have obviously 'moved on' now to 'more current' music like that shitty numb song featuring jay-zee or whatever the fuck his name is. if that 's even 'in' anymore. i wouldn't know, i haven't turned a radio on willingly within the last 6 months and that was to prove how crap it would be.)
also adding that while the tsunami thing may be sad and all, statistically, it'd be great if we could have more of them. there's waaay too many people in the world and I can't say that it's bad to lose 150-200 thousand people (damn i sound heartless..).
Also, the board of studies for NSW can shove their twisted ideas so far up their fucking asses that they'll never come out. seriously, they'd have to be the biggest bunch of fucking morons in the world. they make english compulsorarily count for your HSC mark, completely disregarding the fact that if you're not good at english, yet brilliant at other subjects (eg maths or science), you'll still end up with a shitty UAI. how unfair can you be? why should people be dragged down because they can't waffle about some how some shit 'relates' to other shit through the medium of... i can't go on, it's making me sick.
and what's the deal with fucking holiday homework anyway?
so, to conclude, the board of studies can suck it, more people need to die and people who like merrick and rosso are trend-whores. /rant

wow, so much I could say in this thread. Firstly and1, Frenzal are from Australia, Strathfield in fact.
- Being a musician (no, you're not an "artist", everyone knows "art" is painting and maybe sculpture)
That's a stupid way of looking at it.
- You're not suffering that badly if you can afford to buy a CD for yourself. This means you, Linkin Park/Slipknot fans. I'm sure your emotional trauma will be cured by some lamearse clichè, as long as somebody famous says it.
because only people who are poor have feelings. No one who has had money has ever felt depressed or suicidal.
- People are not heroes for fighting diseases and/or struggling to save their own life. That's just instinct. What's the alternative? Lay down and die? How many people are gonna go "oh no, I've got a highly curable form of cancer! I'm screwed!" *cough delta goodrem cough*
I agree, I hate this type of crap. If someone wants to impress me they should try dying. I would be vaugely impressed....wait no, the word I'm looking for is happy.
- Michael Moore could be taken so much more seriously if he actually backed off a bit. Smart guy, lots of good ideas, let down by a flying fuckload of over-zeal and stereotyping of the "opposition".
I disagree, this guy should never be taken seriously. He is a bigger liar than bush and more of a fraud than someone selling the mona lisa printed on a napkin. He has no good idea's, and yes he is smart. Only because he is able to convince people that he is telling the truth and make them want to pay for his crap.
Population should be decreased. Yes.
meh, I agree with heaps of stuff......theres some shit I think.

anyway, the way i see the world: fuck brand whores; fuck the trends; hell, fuck the brands. if i am wearing my grungy torn up shit and a new trend comes around that has been created by the corporate media where i am suddenly the leader then i'm not going to change just because i am wearing something trendy (read: if i'm popular then good, if not, then good) oh, and i have known people who change who they are simply because they want to "rebel" against a trend, i will listen to whatever, wherever and how ever (on my head seems cool). fuck politics, fuck arrogant shits beating the crap out of each other in the bus interchange, fuck black rappers bitching about "how hard they have it" then making a video clip showing their 2.fucking 3 million dollar "SUVs" (whatever the hell that is) and squillion dollar homes with all their expensive, high class hookers draping themselves all over the rappers making them LOOK like a pimp.
i am not going to not wear clothes made by billabong or quicksliver etc etc just because they are either made in oppressing conditions in third world countries (this tsunami must have been hard for business) but i won't buy them. if you as me, going to kmart and buying a tshirt for $5 is just as good as going into Jetty surf and paying 50 bucks for a "cool" top. sales are good, cheap shit is good, i'm sure billabong couild give away some clothes and stuff to the people in indonesioa (moving into political stuff here) but heaven forbid that the actually help someone. (actually, i'll make a new paragraph for political stuff)
ok, the political stuff: why are people that stupid and manipulatable that both howard AND bush BOTH get re-elected. weren't people protesting and rebelling against them not that long ago? does anyone else here smell anything more than a little suss? people can be bought and dont anyone dare contradict that because if i said right now that i would give you $10000000 to drop your daks in the middle of kings cross on a friday night you would gladly do it. ANY of you would gladly do it.
oh, and gay people? who gives a flying fuck that some dude on the radio called you what most people have been calling you for fuckin ages. don't deny it, everyone in the world (including gays) is at least a little bit homophobic. just because he said it in public and expressed what he was thinking... why don;t you make your own damn radio station to pay out straight people? if you don;t like what he is saying then there is a simple solution, DONT LISTEN TO HIM. jesus, is it that hard. for people who are supposedly more "cultured and civilised", you sure are stupid.
don;t think this is a one sided argument against gays though, straight people aren't in the clear either, at least homosexuals aren't usually AS racist as straight people. i mean, just because we are stuck in our old fashioned ways doesn't mean that we have to be stuck in the way of thinking of the southern states of america 50 years ago.
religion: fuck that. if i wanted to let someone dictate how i think then i would at least want proof that they exist. i mean, come on... god? what the fuck is that? give me an ounce of proof that he/she/it actually exists in this physical world and i will believe instantly. not to mention that if he/she/it was some "almighty ruler who loves everyone" then why is there depressed people? why are there people who go and shoot up their classmates in a school? why is it an instinct for people to say "oh god" when something good or bad happens? i do it as well but i am still asking, why?
anyway, i am truely sorry if you don't agree with me or if you can't actually be arsed to read this fucking thing. i just started tping and it poured out on its own. i know i know, bad grammar, bad spelling, typos everywhare. fuck it, i dont care, i just had to get it out.

yep, you got me, I'm bobo. You must be pretty smart to pick that one out. I mean that was amazing.
Idiot.
BTW: I don't think anything you said made sense. I have never seen a single famous rapper, in recent history, rap about being broke and having it hard. I have heard plenty talk about having a shitty past, but nearly every song these days is about being a hell blinged up and all that. Another thing, not to many trends are started by "corporate media", actually what is this "corporate media" you speak of. Most trends are started by an individual and then once they become 'trendy' they are pushed on us. By the time you notice it, about 50 million people are already doing it without it even being popular. There is no conspiriciry here. The fact that you need to talk about trends and not caring shows that you do, infact, care and need some gratification for it.
People buy expensive and brand name clothing usually because it is better quality than K-mart crap. Most cheap clothing is made for 5 cents a piece in a sweatshop, where expensive clothing is usally made in a certified factory and under a design team. I would rather spend 40 dolllars on clothing that doens't fade, doesn't fall to bits and fits right, rather than something that is made by kids and has an collar for an arm and colours that fade to white in a week. Not that I wear much brand shit, I only wear industry shit usually anyway.
Obviously Bush and Howard were both re-elected because the majority of people know that they are better for their situation. This is the real world, where no one cares about what war is in another country, or who's oil we steal. We care about how much money we have and how easily we can afford to live. Sorry to disapoint you.
Religion is religion, don't try and argue with something that pre-dates written word. You are only making a fool of yourself. I mean you seem to have completley ignored what religion, christian at least, is. Faith, look that word up and then talk about needing proof of existance.

bush an dhoward? maybe re-electing them would have helped their current situation, but did they think about their future situations? and electing them is also, and this is the point i am trying to make, it proves conclusivly that people are stupid hypocrites and therefore, no better than politicians themselves.
with the clothes thing? mate, their shit is DESIGNED in legit factorices etc etc.. where is it made? they like you to THINK in factories... ever wonder why there are no factory tours?
the religion thing? that was MY opinion. i dont give a shit about faith or any of that crap. people can be sheep or they can think for themselves. it is up to them
Want to be different? Openly admit that you want to be the same. Everyone will shit themselves and as a group, tell you not to be a sheep. Note that the irony will be lost on many people...Yes, you're an "individual". No shit. Unless you're a siamese twin in which case you're (mathematically approximated to be) unique anyway. If you feel the need to "express your individuality", I think you need to work out whether adding hair dye/makeup/piercings has been done before.

OK, politics are politics. Like I said the majority of the world doens't give a fuck. Simple as that, for better of for worse. I think everyone can agree there.
You can get factory tours for plenty of big brands. I have seen video of how heaps of clothing is made, though it could be faked I guess, but they crack down on that shit hell hardcore these days, since the early 90s when sweatshopping was cool.
Trust me, cheap clothing on the other hand is different. I could get clothing made, in the same name of a brand sold at K-mart, with my logo on it and made at like 15 cents a piece, then get it sent from taipei. It doens't get much more sweatshop than taipei, where it's possible to buy a girl for $2 usd.
Religion, like I said, you don't have to believe in it, but you were asking the wrong questions.
Also, saying that Billabong should give money to indonesia is kind of stupid. I mean why should they for one? Millions die every year in all sorts of travesties both man made and natural. No one cares usually, even disasters of the Tsunami's (yes it hit countries other than indonesia) sized, usually go unnoticed. The Congo apparently loses more people every year to Tsunami's than this whole disaster. No one even knows about it, or hears about it. Speaking of corporations donating money, look at Hutchinson, they donated well of 500 000 to the Tsunami appeal along with pretty much every other large company in Australia and the world. Did you actually research it? I'll wager Billabong did donate some money to them. Since when should companies do anything of a sort anyway? A company has nothing to do with it, they aren't involved in polititcs, they aren't community services. OK, maybe in a perfect world people should care, but really why waste money, the money your shareholders own and rely on, over something like this? Anyone that did do it, that you heard about, did it for public relations, free advertising, nothing else. How much did you donate? Since when is it a business I'm sure you really let loose on your savings.
anyway....few things to dwell over.....
And with rap video clips. It is all loaned, paid for by the record company which the artist eventually has to pay back. The rapper does not own the house, cars, girls. They use expensive objects & exotic location to create an image that will appeal to the most amount of people, so they make more money. (stupid) people see the clip & make the connection that if I like this song/artist I will have a similar lifestyle. A nd as RW said, when was the lsat time you heard a rap song complaining about how hard they had it. Mostly it is girls, money & parties. The thug life/Gangsta rap thing went way ages ago. true, to an extent. I mean Dre and eminem are damn rich. Especially Dre. 50 cent was a millionare before he was a rapper. Can you say "crack dealer". If you have seen Murda Muzik then you would see all the houses and cars that Mobb deep and his crew own. Not many of them are lacking in funds, generally in film clips it's blown out of proportion. Thing is these guys are all into looking good, so rather than invest money like a normal person, they blow it on clothing, bling and cars. Pop stars are a lil different, where rappers are generally independant or produced by another rapper, pop stars are raped by large record companies. Salt n pepper were screwed by the exact thing which RCOH said. Having to pay back money. They made so little of their records, which made millions that they actually ended up in debt. One destiny's child film clip cost more that the entire album, their entire income from record sales and their income from their deal. I don't know what they were thinking when they made that clip, considering it was shit.

Dre made his 1st lot of cash in NWA & used it to start aftermath records. Ice cube also started a label & is also quite rich. Eminem was signed to aftermath & now has Shady Records. Mobb deep have their own label. 50 Cent now has a line of clothing, a label & a food related product. Puff Daddy/P Diddy/Sean combs has a label & a very large fashion line (turned over $300 million + last year). All the 'bigwigs' in the rap industry are now label bosses. They make their money by doning what I said before: signing a promising artist, loaning them capital then using money made off the record to recoup any losses (if there are any). The majority of those 'cloned' rap/rnb videos we see on sat/sunday mornings, the one the prety girl singing a catchy hook, a fat or ugly but pimpin' guy doing a solo rap piece somewhere, rolling in assed caddy's or SUV's with all the hottest gear & 100 dancers. These people (ashanti, fat joe, bow wow etc) have nothing except maybe a 1 record deal & $500 000 debt. Maybe they will blow up & become moguls in their own right, more likely they will end up touring incessantly or releasing more & more songs in order to make the money to live the lifestyle that they are expected to live, the one they see in rival artists videoclips!!!
BTW this is about 'mainstream' hip pop/rnb ala video hits. Not the undergrouind stuff (which I know next to nothing about) who release their own material (or on indy labels) & don't have film clips ( people under the stairs etc).

Yeh, that's what I was getting at. Eazy had a shitload before he died and really opened up the door for Dre. It's insane how much money NWA has made and created. Without it there would be no eminem, no snoop, no cube, no dre, no nothing. They seriously created the whole damn industry. Of course there were other groups and 'bigwigs' doing deals and making money, but it is all the same shit, the independant, or rapper owned scene. The fat joes, ashanti's and all that crap. They are pop stars under shitty deals with big corps. You're right on the ball there. As for underground act's they differ, like Swollen Members started pretty small, hell underground and Madchild started Battleaxe and when they hit it he signed crazy mofo's like son doobie and buc fitty. I have no idea where he got the original capital, but nowadays they fly around the world kicking back on fat joints and heinekins with people paid to make their lives easier. anyway...I'm rambling...but yeh how about those Jets?

You know, you're right. I just got fired from my job as a full-time student with 24 weeks of holidays a year. And yes, I'm waging a war on the world. I have some nuclear bombs in the shed (next to the pork rinds I'm going to scatter all over the middle east). Oh and yes, I'm single.
I think there was something you were trying to get at with that post, but you're right, I can't make head or tail of half of that.
Edit: and you can speak "to" me instead of "of" me in the 3rd person. It does make sense to do that when you know I'm going to read it and it's directed solely at me.

followed by road warrior... we all know it's you Bobo:p
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that :p
oh, and gay people? who gives a flying fuck that some dude on the radio called you what most people have been calling you for fuckin ages. don't deny it, everyone in the world (including gays) is at least a little bit homophobic. just because he said it in public and expressed what he was thinking... why don;t you make your own damn radio station to pay out straight people? if you don;t like what he is saying then there is a simple solution, DONT LISTEN TO HIM. jesus, is it that hard. for people who are supposedly more "cultured and civilised", you sure are stupid.
I know that you've sexually abused your little sister and two of her classmates. Not only that but I've also heard that you've lured two 4 year olds into your house and forced them to watch you violate your pet cat. That is totally sick and disturbing dude, you should seriously be put to death. Molesting children is the sickest act I've ever heard of. But then a gain, your dad probably abused you as a kid too. Now I'm not saying that this is facrt, it's just what I've heard.
If you don't like what I've written.....hey, you can go to another forum eh?!
If not reading/listening to something was enough to make something go away, or NOT INFLUENCE OTHER PEOPLE WHO MAY NOT SHOW RESTRAINT, then I'd agree to your argument. But, reading/hearing stuff that is directed at you and can cause both emotional and physical harm, directly and indirectly respectively. So if your happy for me to spred stuff about you molesting your little sister, I'll agree that it's fine for shock jocks down on their ratings to verbally attack my mates. ;)

OK, politics are politics. Like I said the majority of the world doens't give a fuck. Simple as that, for better of for worse. I think everyone can agree there.

In relation to this thread, in a way, you may have heard this song being played. It's by an 'artist' named Lazy Boy.
I thought I'd post it up because it conveys a bunch of points that I find quite entertaining and instead of S.'s technique of taking a bunch of points formed by others and re-wording them, hoping we wouldn't notice, I will openly recycle someone elses work.
Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal?
It’s a natural plant that grows in the dirt.
Do you know what’s not natural?
80 year old dudes with hard-ons. That’s not natural.
But we got pills for that.
We’re dedicating all our medical
resources to keeping the old guys erect,
but we’re putting people in jail for
something that grows in the dirt?
You know we have more prescription drugs now.
Every commercial that comes on TV is a prescription drug ad.
I can’t watch TV for four minutes
without thinking I have five serious diseases.
Like: “Do you ever wake up tired in the morning?”
Oh my god I have this, write this down. Whatever it is, I have it.
Half the time I don’t even know what the commercial is…
people running in fields or flying kites
or swimming in the ocean.
I’m like that is the greatest disease ever. How do you get that?
That disease comes with a hot chick and a puppy.
The schools now… It is all about
self-esteem in the schools now.
Build the kids’ self-esteem,
make them feel good about themselves.
If everybody grows up with high self-esteem, who is going to dance in our strip clubs?
What’s going to happen to our porno industry?
These women don’t just grown on trees.
It takes lots of drunk dads missing dance recitals before you decide to blow a goat on the internet for fifty bucks.
And if that disappears, where does that leave me on a Friday night with my new high speed connection?
Masterminds are another word that comes up all the time.
You keep hearing about these terrorists masterminds that get killed in the middle east.
Terrorists masterminds.
Mastermind is sort of a lofty
way to describe what these guys do, don’t you think?
They’re not masterminds.
“OK, you take bomb, right?
And you put in your backpack. And you get on bus and you blow yourself up. Alright?”
“Why do I have to blow myself up? Why can’t I just…”
“Who’s the fucking mastermind here? Me or you?”
Americans, let’s face it:
We’ve been a spoiled country for a long time.
Do you know what the number one health risk in America is?
Obesity. They say we’re in the middle of an obesity epidemic.
An epidemic like it is polio.
Like we’ll be telling our grand kids about it one day.
The Great Obesity Epidemic of 2004.
“How’d you get through it grandpa?”
“Oh, it was horrible Johnny,
there was cheesecake and pork chops everywhere.”
Nobody knows why were getting fatter? Look at our lifestyle.
I’ll sit at a drive thru.
I’ll sit there behind fifteen other cars instead of getting up to make the eight foot walk to the totally empty counter.
Everything is mega meal, super sized.
Want biggie fries, super sized, want to go large.
You want to have thirty burgers for a nickel
you fat mother fucker. There’s room in the back. Take it!
Want a 55 gallon drum of Coke with that?
It’s only three more cents.
Sometimes you have to suffer a little bit in your youth to motivate yourself to succeed in later life.
Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school,
do you think there’d be a Microsoft?
Of course not.
You got to spend a long time in your own locker with your underwear shoved up your ass before you start to think,
“You’ll see. I’m going to take of the world of computers! I’ll show them.”
We’re in one of the richest countries in the world,
but the minimum wage is lower than it was thirty five years ago.
There are homeless people everywhere.
This homeless guy asked me for money the other day.
I was about to give it to him and then
I thought he was going to use it on drugs or alcohol.
And then I thought, that’s what I’m going to use it on.
Why am I judging this poor bastard.
People love to judge homeless guys. Like if you give them money they’re just going to waste it.
Well, he lives in a box, what do you want him to do?
Save it up and buy a wall unit?
Take a little run to the store for a throw rug and a CD rack?
He’s homeless.
I walked behind this guy the other day.
A homeless guy asked him for money.
He looks right at the homeless guy
and says why don’t you go get a job you bum.
People always say that to homeless guys like it is so easy.
This homeless guy was wearing
his underwear outside his pants.
Outside his pants.
I’m guessing his resume isn’t all up to date.
I’m predicting some problems during the interview process.
I’m pretty sure even McDonalds has a
“underwear goes inside the pants” policy.
Not that they enforce it really strictly,
but technically I’m sure it is on the books.
you really need to get laid. Why so, when he has the internet...

Have your opinions, just don't try and shove them down the throat of everyone else via strangling cats/music.

true lots of good points made all true though.
so others that need to be said;
-john howard allies us with the USA which it the most powerful country in the world so in a time of world insercurity what is wrong in doing something to protect us for good.
- all our celebs saying how much they like australia only then to go and live in other parts of the world.
-people complain about or pm or other parts of australia yet if you ask people all over then world they say they'd love to live here, so if you don't like it then leave.
there are many others but sometimes you have to let it go and just enjoy what we have, while it lasts
so if you don't like it then leave. Why? we live in a democracy, if we don't like the current government, we have the ability to do something about it... to say "just leave" to those that don't like it is going against one of the things that makes this country great.

That's true, it's kind of like this forum, but unfortunately this country doens't have a 'ban' feature like this forum does.
To the contrary, this forum is privately owned and voluntary run, there are no rights and no free speech. As a member of Farkin you must bow before us malevolent dictators and absorb our doctrine of world domination.

I think you would find that most these celebs you are talking about live in other parts of the world becuase that is where the opportunities exist for their chosen paths and not so much out of lifestyle choices!!
These celebs do all seem to come home often and do nothing but good for Oz through their promotion of Australia!
As an example... Do you think Rennie, Graves, Hannah, etc etc, who all presumably love Oz, go and spend the majority of the year in the US and Canada out of choice or because that is where their sport and passion has taken them??

-john howard allies us with the USA which it the most powerful country in the world so in a time of world insercurity what is wrong in doing something to protect us for good.
Think I'll take a crack at this one......
I'm assuming that you're saying it's good that we're allied with the US, it was hard to make out exactly what you were saying.
But here goes......
So the world is in a stage of insecurity huh? How do we know this? Oh that's right, because the US had it's arse kicked, gee great choice of ally!!?? Not only are they the one who got smashed (and are continueing to be smashed in Iraq) but those who are causing the insecurity (let's just be ignorant for a minute and assume it's all the terrorists fault) are targetting who? Yep, you guessed it, the very people we are allying ourselves with! Great!
Let me put it another way, a lerge group of blokes walk up to another bloke and start punching into him. Straight away, without asking why they're punching him, you go and shove your face in front of their fists......For all you know, the bloke copping the beating may have murdered their children.
Anyway, let's have another look at your theory here in the world so in a time of world insercurity A world of insecurity huh? Well last time I checked history, the Romans made the local neighbourhood relatively secure, and before that the Greeks made the earliest "democratic" neighbourhood completely secure, and when they weren't doing it, the Phonecians helped them out with their security as well. I'd reckon the English and many western Europeans didn't feel too secure when the local Swedish army was in town on the piss and hey, try being an Eastern European with Napolean as your neighbour! Not to mention both the Northern and Southern American Indians, I don't think they enjoyed the security that the Puritans and the Spanish bought along with them! How secure do you think the Australian Abo's felt when good ol' Cooky rocked on into town? And I don't think those on the Asian sub-continent felt too secure when the Brits were on tour, and it's not as if Ghandi and Nerhu made it any better during the partition days either. Hang on......, aren't both of those countries still going at it, only difference now is that they both have nuclear weapons.....Mmmm, security via mutual destruction! So that's that for the ancient, pre-modern and colonial day's back when everything was sooo secure, what about the security of industrialisation?
Much of the west made China feel nice and secure, by taking most of their profitable ports, railroads and selling the people opium from India. the Japanese sent a little paper crane of security Europe's way when it smashed Russia then giving the Chinese the old Karate chop of security too......., and then the Kaiser went and topped the "golden era" of security off by invading, well..........., the rest of Europe! Of course after about 20 years of complete anarchy, Hitler thought he'd have a crack at making the world more secure by trying to do what the Kaiser couldn't. Of course Hitler was no fool, he knew he couldn't do this whole global security thang on his own, so he enlisted a few Turks, Italians, Japs and so on, to give him a hand securing things up a little.
But the "piece de resistance" of security, certainly the time that I've felt most secure..............., was the good ol' COLD WAR!!! Yeah, remember that? We had the only two super powers, not only running around the world having their own little proxy wars in other people's countries .......(why not mention a few of those lucky secure places.....Korea, Chile, Nicaragua, Panama, Indonesia, Malaya, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Afghanistan to name a few of the commonly known ones)............. but they also had .........THOUSANDS OF NUKES POINTED AT EACH OTHER WHICH WAS ENOUGH TO SCORCH THE FACE OF THE EARTH................6 TIMES OVER!!!!!! My god, I've never felt so secure!
Dude, what we are gong through now is NOTHING compared to 1) what we've been through and 2) what we're about to go through. Australia was where Terrorists went for holidays before we snuggled up to George W! Yes, yes, the Bali bombing and Timor, I know. But let me ask you this, has Australia been attacked? Was Australia specifically attacked via BalI? NO.
Seriously mate, stop reading the Telegraph/Herald Sun and watching channel 7/9/10 and start reading some history and watching ABC/SBS, because it sounds like the tree your barking up is the wrong one to me........
Damn, I hope to hell that I haven't misunderstood your post!![/
all i hear from S. is comments intended to cas conflict (however some maybe valid, intellegent and funny)
He's like some sort of gremlin that crawls up ppl's arses and pokes them with a stick.
So many opinions, does he think of them all himself? if so he must have too much time on his hands.
Who does he work for? he should be fired cas someone with this must shit to say must be in a day dream like state at work or almost 24hrs a day to come up with such endly dible.
i could be wrong but is he a single man? obiviously he doesn't have a woman at home to listen to him go on. infact i have someone for him.. my mates mum goes on like a bus load of pensioners they would be perfect for each other.

Don't read too much into this, but if I have the right to just spout random opinion pieces (as this thread was), it seems fair that people are able to offer their opinion of my opinion (and of me if it's relevant) too... same goes for anyone. Nobody likes being paid out, myself included, but that doesn't mean it's not sometimes justified, especially from different people's perspectives.

Yeah true, and I am a little whacked currently, but I think my point was that DID's post was immature and very unintelligent dribble dressed up as an intelligent judgement of your posts. The kind of stuff you would expect from people who actually get inspired by the current summer channel ten channel ads (ie. the ones about the channel itself). But anyway, yeah, probably just me being silly.
