I recently purchased a phone from Ebay, the NEC e616 model phone which is sold by 3. Now i am having troubles with it. Whenever i make a call or somebody calls me the phone switches itself off. it also does this sometimes when i turn it on. Has anyone else here experienced this problem? If so how do you fix it? If not i understand that Road Warrior works for the 3 company so if you could please contact me it would be much appreciated.

cheers

I have noticed a few of them do it on occasion. I have one at work and every once in a while during a function, IE writing a message it will shut off, or restart. I don't know what causes the problem, and I haven't had any returned with a similar problem, but yeh. I know what you're talking about. Generally you would need to bring it to a store and we would send it on warranty or whatever, but since it's 2nd hand there isn't much we could do but reccomend a repair centre. Try plugging it into the charger and see if it repeats the same problem, as my one at work never does it while on charge, or after recently (first day) of it being charged. I would guess it has something to do with it holding charge or how it distributes it.

my mum has the e616 and as far as I know she hasn't had any problems. I have an e525 which have been great.

But yer if its secondhand I don't think they'll do warranty...might be worth checking out though, you never know. Your best bet would probably be an Orange dealer.

I had a very similar problem with an old Nokia 6150 which was caused by the battery being a bit loose. To test, try and make the battery move while the phone is on and see if it shuts down. If it is that you might be able to use a bit of Gaffa to hold it in place. Ugly but cheap solution.

hey guys,

Spoke to a 3 dealer today and he said some of the nec e616 phones have faulty software. So if you experience this problem take it to your 3 shop and get the name of the nearest authorised repair center and they should be able to give you a software upgrade. I'm checking pricing of this tonight

Yeah i was auctioning it off, but it started playin up the other day so i told the winning bidder the problem and i'll see how much it costs to fix etc. b4 he decides whether to go ahead wit the sale or not.
