Press Release: The Kona- Mt Buller Factory Team members have more often than not been staring down at the competition from atop the podium or in the rarest of occasions looking up from a step below.
The two junior team members have been setting the trails ablaze with Cal Britton (VIC) taking all before him winning the very first round in Cairns and taking the lead in the series, a lead he still holds after four rounds. Junior teammate Joel Healy (VIC) dominated the recent Canberra Tour de Dirt winning all stages and taking maximum National Series points moving him into 4th on the National Series point-score.
Not to be outdone, the Kona- Mt Buller Factory Team elite riders have also been setting the trails ablaze. Dylan Cooper (ACT) displayed calculated riding to win not only the grueling Grand Tour stage of the Tour de Dirt but the overall Elite Men’s classement.
Team Manager Kristjan Snorrason is extremely happy with how his riders are progressing through the National Series “The Canberra round was fantastic for the team. The riders form is building very nicely towards the National Championships. The round at Mt Buller is obviously very important also; presenting good results in front of our sponsors is playing on all our minds!”
Snorrason knows though that before they can stand atop the podium at Australia’s premier mountain bike mountain, the team still has other races to tackle. “Leading into the Kooralbyn national round, Dylan is in great form, the Canberra Dirt Crits are part of his training each week and he hasn’t lost a round in ten weeks! The support Dylan is getting from his training partner Shane Paton (ACT) both on and of the race course is invaluable.
Cal and Joel are both riding very well, going through the motions, building towards the Nationals. They are both awesome riders with heaps of potential; I’m really excited to have them on the team and to watch them mature as riders. They both should be on the Australian Junior Team for this year’s World Championships in Livigno.”
February 12th – 13th sees the team fly up to Brisbane to tackle Round 5 at Kooralbyn. Cooper will be gunning to take another win and take the National Series Lead, while Britton will be looking to cement his series lead while Healy is looking to close in from 4th to make it One-Two for the Kona- Mt Buller Factory Team.
