except 2 bolts at the bottom which dont tighten i think they connect to the springs rite?

they are a boxxer race 02 i think

now im no boxxer buff, but ive read this post 3 times and havent found a problem, except the fact that the bolts at the bottom (of the fork?) wont tighten. ive never pulled a boxxer apart but id imagine these bolts screw into the pistons, which may be stripped, or just turning. i dunno. these being loose should dramatically affect the fork's performance (ei the lowers fall off:( ) if my inamgination is serving me well. i could be wrong mate.

more info please.

Referring to that?

I guess it depends how badly stripped they are....

If its the bolts that screw up into the bottem of the legs if they wont do up the lowers will fall off, not good :p

looking at his pic, and reading the text in avanti_racing's for sale thread, it is not the bolts that hold the lowers on to the piston which intern stops the fork from falling of from underneath you, it is the bolts that help clamp the through axle on to the fork? i could be wrong through... depending on what is threaded it could be fixed by either, a new bolt (if bolts are threaded) or a hely coil?

but if it is the bolts underneath, bad idea rideing if they are loose.... unless u can manual/wheelie really well

how much would a set of new bolts or a helycoil cost?

less than $50. But hell, i ran 2 stripped bolts for a while on mine with no dramas, it just depends weather they are on the same leg or different leg's.

^^^^^could be wrong, but wouldnt the thread be stripped in the bottom of the pistons rather than the bolts themselves? its usually that way round anyway (internal threads being stripped, especially alu, if the pistons are...). bolts will cost u bugger all, helicoil the seals will be 20+ unless uhave got good mates, and new pistons are $???
