hey,

i am currently runnin my 6pot on the front of my 243 and am defenitly not selling it.

i know the 6pot uses a funky adapter system, could i get a rear adapter (185mm) and just get a left hand side lever n run it rear?(re bled with goodridge line)

Just buy a new rear brake and use your current one as a paper weight; it's tool old to be cool anyway. ;)

Haha, good one w2ttsy.

As for the brake, I'd just keep the lever and get the required cableand adapter, with only one lever on the bars you will learn quickenough which one to grab.

sooooo, back to the question at hand...

naz,

the international standard adaptors for the hope mono6ti will fit a 205mm in the front or a 185mm in the back as they are. seeing as you were running it on the front, i assume that you have a 205mm rotor. to run this rotor in the rear, you need 2 small square-section spacers, which fit between the adaptor you have and the caliper body. you'll also need longer bolts to accomodate them. if your iso adaptor didn't come with these spacers, you could probably get some from jesse at speed shop (oz hope distributor) or maybe you could just use washers, for a ghetto look.

if you're going to get a new (185mm) rotor, your current adaptor will already work perfectly.

however, regarding the matters of lever and hose:
goodridge lines are a good investment anyway, but hope levers are radically overpriced. IMO, you'd be better off buying another complete brake. but if you're planning on running rear only, you could even just buy a rear mini w/ a left lever, swap out the lever and hose for your own, and sell your lever and hose with the new caliper and rotor. your net loss would probably be less this way. also, you could probably pick up a 2nd hope brake with the correct lever and do this part-swapping -- hope mini levers haven't changed since they first brought them out.

hope this helps...

thanks dude.

hmm, sounds like a plan, buy a new 185mm floating rotor, then buy a complete mini rear. then rebleed the mini with the front lever and sell it

cheers agian!!

The rotor is 2 pieces held together by something or others I dont know what they are called, rivot things but not quite... which allows for it to cool better and be lighter as the inside bit is alluminium im fairly certain, but the brake surface is still steel Because you cant use aluminium for the braking surface...

Im probably way off the mark here but I know im right about the 2 piece part :D

then buy a complete mini rear. then rebleed the mini with the front lever and sell it I think you'll experience complications with caliper sizes and offsets between front and rear, won't you? I know fark all about hope, expect, they're a prick of a thing to swap around because of the adapterless setup, so you really should research what caliper size you'll intend on buying to do this.
Is the front 6ti specific to the Marzocchi spacing? Will that cause a drama when put on the rear? Will you be able to get a Mini caliper+rear lever setup in the right caliper size to be mounted on the front? Is it a drama to run the current righthand lever, with a new line, for the rear? Or do you have to run a lefthand lever for the rear? Because if it's the latter, I'd say forget about buying new and swapping calipers and crap over, just get a new lefthand lever, it will save some headaches and should be the easiest way out if you say cost isn't an issue. But first things first, check out if the front caliper will fit on the rear with no spacing problems.

Yo Naz,

the simple answer is yes. You can get another leaver and swap the 6Ti to the back. Or do the swap, that sounded like a good idea.

Second part, you can just swap the adapter. All Mono 6Ti calipers are the same, it's just the adapter that adapts. Hope aren't great on the emails. I'll give them a call tomorrow and find out what parts you might need.

Last, floating rotor is like on performance bikes and Racecar brake systems. You have a aluminium spider/hat/bell that has the steel/carbon disk bolted or Rivited to it. In the case of Hope and most moto's, it's an ally spider with a stainless disk rivited together. It means the disk section runs true at any temparature and it cools off quicker during downhill runs. This helps combat brake fade and gives a better lever feel. It is also found on the new shimano brakes and seen on the Brembo prototype mtb brakes.
Looks like this........
