Ok the thread title says it all. I need to wash my armour - it wasn't so bad when the dog used to roll on it when I left it lying around but now she won't even go near it and whimpers in the corner when the odour wafts out of my gear bag. But I digress... I searched (briefly) and couldn't find out if I can just chuck Dainese and TLD armour in the machine or not. I'd rather not have it soaking in a bucket as the water would eventually find it's way onto the garden and poison the lawn. And I'd ring my advice line (mum) but she's unlikely to know much about it. So what's the deal - machine it and see?
PS. I'm not dumb enough to try putting it in the dryer.

Handwash maybe?
I'll ask my mum tonight, my armour needs a bit of a wash too.

hang it on the line with heaps of pegs or a coathanger. get the hose and let her rip. if you can remove your spinal plates, then do that and hang them next to said armour and use the same hose method. a usually find a good 5 minutes spray works. works for leg armour and fullfaces too.
stick the hose up the arms, into the chest cavity. all over. then let it dry in the sun during the day.
i also find spraying some kiwi shoe freshener into the armour helps keep the odour out when its a bit stinky, but doesnt warrent a wash.
at the moment im washing the gloves in the sink, and the stench is bad enough to make a coroner wince. i have to them by hand because mum doesnt want the taint in the washing machine..

Bathtub, washing powder and elbow grease. Just give them a good thrashing, rub the really dirty areas. Drain the tub and rinse well, hang and dry. Done Also, "Glenn 20" ;) after every use stops the stench, perfect for the full face too, quick spray after every use and mine doesnt stink at all! :D

I put my leg guards in the wash once in a while... works fine, just dry it on the line. So providing your body armour fits in the machine with room to spare, then it should work fine.

I just wear mine and jump under the shower, soap it a little and hang it on the clothes line. Kinda kills two birds with the one stone...cause i get cleaned too.
Just don't get caught doing it, you just might get committed to the asylum.

Having seen an autopsy on an alcoholic I can assure you nothing makes these people wince.

you havent smelt my gloves then. these things taint what ever theytouch. my helmet, my whole bedroom. the smell even escaped a zip locbag . there were blood sweat and tears in those gloves. and dirt and other rank shit.
when i washed them, there was black liquid pouring out of them forabout 20 mins straight. took 40 minutes per gloves to get them to rinseclean. and the smell still remains :(
